Minecraft flight is easy to take for granted in newer versions, but players on 1.7.10 do not have elytras waiting in the End. Without cheats, building tall structures, scouting terrain, or escaping mobs can be a lot more awkward than it needs to be. The Wings of Alfheim solves that problem with a Forge mod built around fairy-themed materials, tools, and craftable wings.
With this mod installed on a singleplayer world or server, players can earn flight through mining, crafting, and activating special items. It also includes several wing appearances, so the final result is not just useful, it can match your skin or your general level of dramatic flair.
The Wings of Alfheim needs two files: the main mod and the Baubles dependency. Both must match Minecraft Forge 1.7.10.

After downloading both files, add them to your local Forge installation through the Minecraft launcher.

Once the client is ready, install the same mod files on the server. Players and the server need matching mods, or Minecraft will object in its usual cheerful way.

The mod does not overhaul world generation in a flashy way. Most changes come from items, recipes, and one important underground ore. To progress, mine for Fairy Ore, process it into useful materials, then use those materials to craft equipment and wings.
Some recipes require late-game resources, especially the Nether Star used for the Flight Core. That means Alfheim wings are not usually an early spawn item unless your server has custom progression or shared resources.

Fairy Ore is the key world-generation addition. It appears underground around the same general mining layers where players often search for iron or gold, so finding it should not require strange rituals or a spreadsheet.
Smelt Fairy Ore in a furnace to produce Mediocris ingots. These ingots are used in the mod's main recipes, including blocks, tools, and wing components. You can also place Fairy Ore in a crafting table to make Fairy Dust, another material needed for certain recipes. Dust is used less often than ingots, but you will still want to keep some around.

The mod adds a full Mediocris tool set, including swords, shovels, and other familiar gear. These tools are stronger than diamond, which is powerful considering how accessible the ore can be. The recipes mostly follow normal Minecraft tool patterns.
The Mediocris sword has one notable difference: it uses two diamonds on the sides of the handle in the crafting grid. These tools are helpful, but they are optional. You do not need a full Mediocris kit before crafting wings.

Before creating the wings themselves, craft a Flight Core. The recipe requires two Mediocris ingots, two Ender Pearls, and one Nether Star.
After the Flight Core is ready, craft Alfheim Wings with:
The wings still need activation before they can be used. Crafting them is only the first half of the process.

To activate Alfheim Wings, craft an Alfhomancy Table using two diamonds, two emeralds, four wood planks, and one block of Mediocris. Place the table somewhere safe, preferably not next to lava unless your base design is making a point.
Right-click the Alfhomancy Table while holding the wings to activate them. The same table also lets players cycle through the available styles. Once activated, wings cannot simply be turned off, but they can be swapped to another variant. They also have no durability, so they will not break from use.

The Wings of Alfheim includes nine wing styles with different shapes, colors, sizes, and transparency levels. The translucent look is intentional and fits the mod's fairy theme. You only need one wing item to access the styles, since the Alfhomancy Table handles switching.
Try a few variants and pick the one that fits your character. Function matters, but looking slightly magical while flying over a ravine is allowed.
Make sure Baubles is installed alongside The Wings of Alfheim. The mod depends on it, and missing dependencies are one of the most common reasons Forge refuses to start.
Also confirm that every file is for Minecraft Forge 1.7.10. The client and server should use matching versions, and the server must be running the correct Forge profile. If one side has a different version or missing JAR, players may fail to connect.
If Fairy Ore does not appear, the world may have been generated before the mod was installed. Since the mod adds a new ore block, a fresh world is the cleanest fix.
On existing worlds, you may still find ore by exploring newly generated chunks underground. Areas that were already created before installing the mod will not automatically gain Fairy Ore.
