How to Install and Use SuperVanish on a Minecraft Server

What SuperVanish Does

Running a Minecraft server means dealing with players who behave perfectly until staff appear online. That makes catching X-ray users, griefers, or other rule breakers harder than it should be. SuperVanish solves that by letting staff disappear from normal player view while staying connected to the server.

When active, SuperVanish can hide you from players, remove you from online player lists, stop hostile mobs from targeting you, and send fake join or leave messages. In other words, it gives staff a quiet observation mode without needing to lurk suspiciously behind a tree.

SuperVanish was created by MyzelYam on Spigot and supports many Minecraft versions, including older 1.7 releases through newer server builds. For the best feature support, install it alongside ProtocolLib.

Download SuperVanish

  1. Open the SuperVanish page on Spigot.
  2. Click Download Now and save the `.jar` file somewhere easy to find.
  1. Download the latest ProtocolLib dev build as well.
  1. Keep both `.jar` files ready for the server installation.

Install the Plugin on Your Server

  1. Open the HolyHosting server panel and stop the Minecraft server.
  2. Confirm the server is running a plugin-compatible jar, such as PaperMC or Spigot.
  1. Open file access from the panel and sign in if prompted.
  2. Go to the `plugins` folder.
  3. Upload both the SuperVanish and ProtocolLib `.jar` files.
  4. Wait for the uploads to finish, then return to the main server page.
  1. Restart the server so both plugins can load.

Using Vanish In Game

Once the server restarts, SuperVanish works with a simple command:

```text /vanish ```
Running the command hides your player from normal visibility and may send a fake logout message, depending on your configuration. While vanished, staff also receive useful effects such as night vision, making it easier to observe players without announcing their presence.
Main Vanish Features
Full Player Invisibility
SuperVanish makes your character disappear from other players while the vanish state is active. You can still move around and inspect the server, but regular players cannot see you standing nearby.
Collision still applies to the vanished player, but other players should not be pushed around by someone they cannot see. Invisible mystery shoving is bad moderation theater.
Hidden From Player Lists
A vanished staff member appearing in the tab list would ruin the whole trick. SuperVanish removes vanished players from the in-game player list and can also hide them from the online player count shown in the server list.
This is especially useful when monitoring a player who only breaks rules when they believe no staff are watching.
Ignored by Hostile Mobs
Hostile mobs can ignore vanished players, which prevents odd situations like a creeper exploding next to someone who appears to be standing alone. It also helps staff stay hidden while watching an area.
This can be useful if you need to remain connected while stepping away briefly, since the surrounding chunks may stay loaded without mobs constantly reacting to you.
Commands and Permissions
SuperVanish includes permission-based access for vanish commands and related features. Server owners should assign these permissions only to trusted staff groups through a permissions plugin such as LuckPerms.
Common use cases include allowing moderators to vanish, letting admins see vanished staff, and controlling access to silent chest opening or other inspection tools. Exact permission nodes can vary by plugin version, so check the SuperVanish documentation for the version installed on your server.
Configure SuperVanish
SuperVanish can be customized through its `config.yml` file. Settings may control hunger, night vision, mob targeting, join and leave messages, player list behavior, and other vanish features.
To edit the configuration:
  1. Open file access in the HolyHosting server panel.
  2. Go to `plugins`, then open the `SuperVanish` folder.
  1. Find `config.yml` and open it for editing.
  2. Change the settings you want to adjust.
  1. Save the file, then restart the server so the new settings apply.
Common Problems
SuperVanish commands do not work
This usually means the plugin did not load correctly or the server is not running a plugin-compatible jar. Use `/plugins` in game or from the console to check whether SuperVanish appears. If the command is missing or no plugins are listed, switch the server to PaperMC or Spigot and make sure the SuperVanish `.jar` is directly inside the `plugins` folder.
You still appear in the player list or cannot open chests silently
SuperVanish can run by itself, but several important features require ProtocolLib. Install the correct ProtocolLib build for your Minecraft version, place it in the same `plugins` folder as SuperVanish, and restart the server again.
