Minecraft worlds are built from biomes, and those biomes decide what terrain, mobs, weather, structures, and resources you are likely to find. That is great for exploration, but less great when the one biome you need is apparently hiding behind twelve mountains and a questionable amount of ocean.
Nature's Compass solves that problem with a craftable item that can search for a selected biome and point you toward it. It works with vanilla biomes and many modded biomes, making it useful for survival servers, modpacks, and anyone hunting for a specific climate or structure spawn.
Nature's Compass is a Minecraft utility mod by Chaosyr on CurseForge. It is available for many Minecraft versions, including older releases such as 1.7.10 and newer versions around 1.19, with builds for both Forge and Fabric.
The mod adds one main item: a compass that opens a biome search menu. From there, players can pick a biome, view details about it, and track its location in the world.

Save the `.jar` somewhere easy to find. You will need the same mod file for the server and for each player client that joins with the mod installed.

Once the server boots with Forge or Fabric, Nature's Compass should be active. Players still need to install the same mod on their own Minecraft client before joining.

Make sure the client loader, server loader, Minecraft version, and mod version all match. Minecraft is very particular about this, because apparently one mismatched file is enough drama for the evening.
After joining the world, craft the compass before using the mod's search features.

The recipe uses simple materials:

Once crafted, hold the Nature's Compass and right-click to open its interface.
The menu lists the biomes available in the current world. This includes standard Minecraft biomes and compatible biomes added by other mods.
The biome list shows every biome the compass can search for. If your modpack adds many world-generation mods, this list can get long quickly.
Use the search bar to filter the biome list by name. This is the fastest way to find something specific, such as a mangrove swamp, desert, or a modded biome from a large pack.

Select a biome, then press Start Search. A tracking display appears on-screen with the biome name, coordinates, and distance from your current position. Follow the compass direction until you reach the target biome.

The Info button shows extra biome data, including the source mod, category, precipitation, and climate values. This is helpful when you care about biome properties instead of only the biome name.

The teleport option moves the player to the tracked biome coordinates, but only if they have permission to teleport. Use it carefully, since teleporting can place you inside blocks or unsafe terrain. Creative mode is the safest place to test it.
Sorting options make the biome list easier to browse. Depending on the version, you can sort by details such as name, temperature, rainfall, or category.
I get an error when joining the server. This usually means the client setup does not match the server. Confirm that Forge or Fabric is installed, Nature's Compass is in the client's `mods` folder, and the launcher is using the correct modded profile.
The item appears, but it does not work on the server. Check that the server is actually running Forge or Fabric. Then open the server's `mods` folder and confirm the Nature's Compass `.jar` is uploaded there. If you add or replace the file, restart the server before testing again.
