How to Add Supplementaries to a Minecraft Server

Minecraft·May 20, 2026·22 min read

Overview

Minecraft already has a huge pile of blocks, tools, and odd little systems to experiment with. Still, many players eventually want more without turning the game into something unrecognizable. Supplementaries fits that space well by adding vanilla-style blocks, items, and quality-of-life tweaks that feel like they could have been hiding in the game all along.

The mod includes decorations, redstone parts, food, tools, mob-related items, and small world interactions. Some additions are practical, some are cosmetic, and a few are excellent for causing a carefully measured amount of trouble.

Supplementaries is available through CurseForge and requires Moonlight Lib. Make sure the Minecraft version and mod loader match on both the server and every player client.

Downloading Supplementaries

  1. Open the Supplementaries CurseForge page.
  2. Select Files to view available builds.
  1. Choose the file for the Minecraft version and loader you plan to use.
  2. Click the download button on the right side of the file entry.
  1. Save the mod file somewhere easy to find.
  2. Download the matching version of Moonlight Lib as well.

Do not mix Forge and Fabric files, and do not use a different Minecraft version unless the file specifically supports it. Mod loaders are picky, which is rude but predictable.

Installing on the Server

  1. Open your HolyHosting server panel and stop the server.
  2. Check the game file or server type area.
  1. Confirm the server is running the correct Forge or Fabric version.
  2. Open file access from the panel and sign in if prompted.
  3. Find the mods folder. If it does not exist, create it.
  1. Upload both Supplementaries and Moonlight Lib into the mods folder.
  2. Wait for the upload to finish completely.
  1. Return to the main server page and start the server.

If the server fails to boot, check that Moonlight Lib is present, the mod loader is correct, and the file versions match your Minecraft version.

Installing on Your Minecraft Client

Every player joining the server also needs the same required mods installed locally.

  1. Install the matching Forge or Fabric loader on your computer.
  2. Open the Minecraft Launcher.
  3. Go to Installations.
  4. Hover over the profile you will use, then click the folder icon.
  1. Open or create the mods folder.
  2. Place Supplementaries and Moonlight Lib in that folder.
  1. Return to the launcher and start the matching profile.

Once Minecraft reaches the main menu without errors, connect to the server and confirm the modded content appears in-game.

What Supplementaries Adds

Supplementaries adds a wide range of small features instead of one huge system. That makes it useful for survival servers, building worlds, and lightly modded packs where the vanilla feel still matters.

Decorative Blocks

Flags work like horizontal banners and can use different colors or designs. Depending on configuration, they may also move with the wind.

Pedestals let you display items on top of a block. When used with end crystals, they can also interact with enchanting tables.

Statues are small display pieces that can hold one item and use different poses. With redstone, they can even wave.

Planters allow crops or plants to grow without nearby water, which is especially useful for Nether farms or compact decorative gardens.

Redstone Blocks

Cog blocks behave like redstone dust in some ways, but they can transfer signals vertically. That makes tight redstone builds easier to arrange.

Clocks provide an in-game way to track time. They can trigger observers every in-game hour or output a signal through a comparator.

Spring launchers can send players or mobs upward, similar to old piston and slime block launchers.

A dispenser minecart does what the name promises. It places dispenser behavior onto rails, allowing activator rails to fire items from a moving cart.

Tools, Food, and Utility Items

Keys can claim ownership of certain blocks, helping prevent other players from opening or using them without the correct key.

Wrenches rotate many blocks after placement, including stairs and signs. This is excellent for fixing one wrong-facing block without rebuilding half a wall.

Slingshots can fire entire blocks, which are placed when they land. They can help with building, or with very questionable engineering.

Flutes can call nearby pets that are not sitting. They can also be bound to a specific pet for easier summoning.

Final Notes

Supplementaries is best when you want Minecraft to feel broader without replacing the base game. It adds decoration, practical redstone tools, utility items, and small tweaks such as extra lantern placement options. After installing the mod and its Moonlight Lib dependency on both server and client, you can start exploring the new blocks and deciding which ones deserve a permanent spot in your world.
