How to Install and Start an FTB Interactions Minecraft Server

What FTB Interactions Adds

FTB Interactions changes Minecraft into a broader progression pack built around technology, magic, exploration, automation, and questing. Instead of following one narrow theme, it combines many systems into a single long-term modded experience. One moment you may be gathering basic island resources, and later you may be building machines, working through magical progression, or automating fights that vanilla Minecraft would never politely allow.

Because the pack has both server-side setup and client-side installation steps, getting started can feel a little more involved than joining a normal world. The steps below cover the server install, the recommended void world setting, the FTB App setup on Windows and macOS, and the first few things to check after spawning.

Install FTB Interactions on the Server

  1. Open your HolyHosting server panel and stop the Minecraft server.
  2. Find the JAR File or server type selector.
  3. Choose FTB Interactions from the available modpack list.
  1. When the panel asks whether to generate a new world, choose the new world option.
  2. Restart the server after saving the change.

A fresh world is strongly recommended for this pack. Reusing an old world can cause missing blocks, broken terrain, or modded content that refuses to behave.

FTB Interactions is designed to start players on floating islands. On a server, the level type should usually be set to voidworld. If it is not, the starting islands may generate too close to the ground, which slightly ruins the whole floating-island situation.

  1. In the server panel, open Config Files.
  2. Select Server Settings.
  3. Locate the Level Type field.
  4. Enter voidworld.
  5. Save the file.
  6. Generate a new world when prompted, then restart the server.

Install the Modpack on Windows

  1. Go to the FTB App download page.
  2. Select Download for Windows and run the installer.
  1. Open the FTB App after installation.
  2. Go to the Browse section.
  3. Search for FTB Interactions and choose Install.
  1. After installation finishes, return to My Modpacks and launch FTB Interactions.

Install the Modpack on macOS

  1. Open the FTB App download page.
  2. Select Download for macOS and run the installer.
  3. Launch the FTB App.
  4. Open Browse.
  5. Search for FTB Interactions, then press Install.
  1. Once the download completes, open My Modpacks and start the pack from there.

First Spawn: What to Check

When you first join the world, you should appear on a small island with a single tree. Before sprinting into destiny, or into the void, check the island and your starter inventory.

Island Resources

The tree is your first source of wood and saplings. Treat it carefully, since early progression depends on having renewable materials.

The nearby dirt square gives you a place to plant saplings and other early items. It is small, but it is better than having no dirt at all.

The transmutation table lets you convert certain items into other resources. For example, sand can be changed into cobblestone, making it important for early material gathering.

The glowing wisps around the island provide useful light during the early game. They help keep the area visible and reduce the chance of hostile mobs making your tiny island even more stressful.

Starter Inventory

Open the lunch box to find berries. These are useful for keeping hunger under control while you work through the opening quests.

The Tome of Knowledge is used with the transmutation table. It becomes one of the key tools for unlocking and converting available items as you progress.

Quest Book Setup

Open the quest book and create a team when prompted. Follow the on-screen steps to make a new team for your player.

After the team is created, close and reopen the book. The quest menu should now show the progression path and available tasks.

Starting the Quest Path

To begin, select the large gear icon, read the quest details, and accept the task. When a quest is completed, remember to claim the reward on the right side of the quest screen.

Continue through the quest list in order. The pack uses quests to introduce mechanics, provide rewards, and point you toward the next major step. Following them early on is much easier than guessing your way through a heavily modded progression system.

Common Issues

I am falling through the void, or no island generated.

This usually means the level type was not set correctly. Open the server settings again and confirm that Level Type is set to voidworld. Save the setting, generate a new world, and restart the server.

I get an error when joining the server.

The most common cause is a mismatched or missing client installation. Make sure your computer is running the official FTB Interactions modpack from the FTB App, with the same pack version expected by the server.

The server is stuck while loading.

This can happen if a mod was removed from an existing world. Open the server console and run /fml confirm to allow the world to load without the missing mod content. Only do this if you understand that removed mod items or blocks may disappear.

Modded items appear in creative mode but do not generate on the server.

The server may not actually be running the FTB Interactions modpack. Confirm that the server type is set to FTB Interactions in the panel, save the change, and restart.

Final Notes

FTB Interactions begins on a tiny floating island, but the progression quickly opens into portals, machinery, magic, and more dangerous areas. Start with the quest book, protect your early resources, and make sure the server is using voidworld before investing time into the world.
