How to Install and Play FTB Revelation on a Minecraft Server

What FTB Revelation Adds

Vanilla Minecraft has a familiar rhythm: punch a tree, mine better materials, build a base, then push toward bosses and late-game gear. That loop works, but after enough worlds, the item list can start feeling a little thin.

FTB Revelation expands that progression with a broad mod collection built for many playstyles. Instead of focusing on only magic, only technology, or only exploration, it mixes all of them into one large kitchen sink pack. Players can chase automation, experiment with Thaumcraft, explore new dimensions, build bigger bases, or simply wander until something strange tries to remove them from existence.

The modpack is published by FTB and developed by tfox83. It has millions of downloads and includes well over 200 mods covering gameplay, performance, stability, world generation, mobs, and progression. It is a strong choice for players who want a large modded experience without being locked into a single theme.

Install FTB Revelation on the Server

  1. Open your HolyHosting server panel.
  2. Stop the Minecraft server before changing the server version.
  3. Find the JAR File or server version selector.
  4. Choose FTB Revelation from the available modpack options.
  1. When prompted, generate a new world. This is strongly recommended for modpacks because world generation changes need fresh chunks to work correctly.
  2. Restart the server and wait for it to finish loading.

Once the restart completes, the server should be running FTB Revelation and ready for matching clients to join.

Optional: Enable Biomes O' Plenty

Biomes O' Plenty is included in the pack, but the server must use the correct world type before a new world is generated.

  1. In the server panel, open Config Files.
  2. Select Server Settings.
  3. Find the Level Type field.
  4. Enter `BIOMESOP`.
  1. Save the file.
  2. Generate a new world when prompted, then restart the server.

This needs to be done before exploring the world heavily. Changing world generation after players have already traveled far can create awkward borders between old and new terrain.

Install the Modpack on Windows

Every player joining the server needs the same FTB Revelation modpack installed locally. A vanilla client will not know what to do with all those extra blocks, and Minecraft is not famous for politely improvising.

  1. Go to the FTB App download page.
  2. Select Download for Windows and run the installer.
  1. Open the FTB App after installation.
  2. Go to Browse.
  3. Search for FTB Revelation and press Install.
  1. After the installation finishes, open My Modpacks and launch FTB Revelation.

Install the Modpack on macOS

  1. Go to the FTB App download page.
  2. Select Download for macOS and run the installer.
  1. Open the FTB App.
  2. Go to Browse.
  1. Search for FTB Revelation and choose Install.
  2. Once the download is complete, return to My Modpacks and launch the pack.

After the client loads, add your server address from the multiplayer menu and connect as normal.

Early World Changes

FTB Revelation makes the world feel different quickly. Some changes are subtle, while others are hard to miss.

Meteorite-like crash sites can appear across the world. These areas may include scattered stone, unusual terrain, or nearby lava, so inspect them carefully before digging straight down.

Floating islands can generate high in the sky. They often contain blue slimes and are useful landmarks, assuming you do not discover them by falling off one.

With Biomes O' Plenty enabled, the overworld gains many new biome types. Expect unfamiliar forests, terrain colors, plants, and exploration routes compared to a standard Minecraft world.

Villages can also feel different. New villager types and more detailed buildings may appear, giving settlements a more varied look than their vanilla versions.

New Mobs and Bosses

The Blitz is similar in spirit to the Blaze, but it uses air-based attacks. Its projectiles can damage players and apply nausea, which makes fighting back much less graceful.

The Ashen is a hostile skeleton variant. It has skeleton-like health, but its arrows can inflict blindness for a few seconds.

The Wraith appears in the Nether and attacks players on sight. When it lands a hit, it can apply Slowness II, making escape more difficult.

The Eldritch Guardian is tied to progression in Thaumcraft. It can surround players with fog and uses both melee and ranged attacks.

The Eldritch Warden is a stronger boss version of the Eldritch Guardian. It rises from the floor with 100 hearts and a shield, so treat it like a real fight rather than a quick loot stop.

The Ur-Ghast is a Twilight Forest boss with 125 hearts. It uses fireballs, ghast tears, and smaller ghastlings to pressure players during the battle.

Common Problems

I get an error when joining the server. Make sure FTB Revelation is installed through the official FTB App and that you are launching the correct modpack version. The server and client must match.

The server is stuck while loading. This can happen when a mod was removed from an existing world. Open the server console and run `/fml confirm` to allow the world to load with missing mod content removed.

Modded items appear in creative but do not generate in the world. The server may not be running the modpack correctly, or the world may have been generated before the pack or biome settings were applied. Confirm the server is set to FTB Revelation, restart it, and generate a fresh world if needed.

Final Notes

FTB Revelation turns Minecraft into a much larger progression sandbox. The Nether, overworld, villages, bosses, magic systems, tech paths, and exploration options all get more depth. Once the server and client are both installed correctly, the main decision is whether to start with machines, magic, bosses, or an oversized base that will definitely need more storage later.
