How to Install and Play Enigmatica 6 on a Minecraft Server

What Is Enigmatica 6?

Vanilla Minecraft has plenty to do, but modpacks are where the checklist becomes a spreadsheet, sometimes in a good way. Enigmatica 6 is a large Minecraft 1.16.5 CurseForge modpack that brings together tech, exploration, magic, building, automation, world generation, and quality-of-life changes.

The pack was created by EnigmaticaModpacks and is owned by NillerMedDild. It follows Enigmatica 5 and includes hundreds of mods, with roughly 353 included depending on the pack version. That means new biomes, factory machines, teleportation tools, furniture, custom progression, and plenty of systems to learn.

This guide covers installing Enigmatica 6 on a HolyHosting server, adding the client-side modpack through CurseForge, and getting started once you spawn in.

Install Enigmatica 6 on the Server

Before changing modpacks, stop your server. Modded servers need a clean start when switching versions, especially when moving between major Minecraft versions.

1. Open your HolyHosting server panel and stop the server.
2. Find the Game File or server version selector.
3. Open the dropdown menu.

1. Search for and select Enigmatica 6.
2. Confirm the version change when prompted.
3. When asked, generate a new world. This is strongly recommended for modpacks because world generation and modded blocks can break or fail to appear in an old world.

1. Start the server again and wait for the modpack to finish loading.

The first startup may take longer than usual. Large modpacks need time to build configs, prepare mods, and generate the initial world files.

Install the Modpack on Your Computer

The server and your Minecraft client must run the same modpack. If the server has Enigmatica 6 but your game launches plain Minecraft, you will not be able to join.

Windows Setup

1. Go to the CurseForge app download page and choose Download for Windows.

1. Run the installer and complete the Minecraft setup inside CurseForge.
2. Open Browse Modpacks.
3. Search for Enigmatica.
4. Select Enigmatica 6 - E6, then press Install.

1. After installation, return to My Modpacks.
2. Hover over Enigmatica 6 and press Play.

macOS Setup

1. Visit the CurseForge app download page and choose Download for macOS.

1. Open the installer and finish the Minecraft setup.
2. In CurseForge, open Browse Modpacks.
3. Search for Enigmatica.
4. Choose Enigmatica 6 - E6 and install it.
5. Return to My Modpacks once the download finishes.

1. Hover over the pack and press Play.

After Minecraft opens through CurseForge, join your server using its address from the server panel.

First Steps After Spawning

When you enter the world, your inventory should include a Quest Book, Mossy Waystone, and Astral Tome. All three are useful, but the Quest Book is the best place to begin because it explains the pack progression.

Use the Quest Book

Right-click the Quest Book to open it. Start with the Welcome quest in the center of the menu. Read the information, then click the checkmark near the top-left to complete the task and claim the reward.

Next, go back to the main quest screen and open the pinned Modded for Dummies quest. Read through it, complete the task, and claim the book reward. This guidebook explains important modded Minecraft basics, including quests, Just Enough Items, gameplay tweaks, and other systems that are easy to miss.

The last introductory quest asks you to craft a book. Completing it rewards the Akashic Tome. After that, hover over the arrow on the left side of the quest screen to browse the larger quest categories, including building, exploration, challenges, and other progression paths.

Use the Akashic Tome

The Akashic Tome is a library in one item. Right-click it while holding it to open a menu of available guidebooks from different mods. Choose a book, then use it normally to read that mod's information.

When you are done, left-click the air while holding the transformed tome to return it to its default form. It is much cleaner than carrying a backpack full of manuals, though the backpack full of manuals is also very modded Minecraft.

Notable Mods in Enigmatica 6

Enigmatica 6 includes far too many mods to list here, but these are some early highlights worth recognizing.

Oh The Biomes You'll Go adds many new biomes and landscapes to explore, including forests, beaches, and colorful regions that make travel more interesting.

Waystones lets you activate teleport points around the world. Once a waystone is discovered and activated, it can be used later for faster travel.

Create focuses on mechanical automation. It lets you build moving contraptions, factories, item transport systems, mining setups, and other machines powered by rotation.

Alex's Mobs expands the world with many additional creatures. You will find new animals and hostile mobs across different biomes.

Tinkers' Construct adds custom tool and weapon crafting. You can combine materials for different traits, build smelteries, and upgrade equipment beyond standard vanilla crafting.

MrCrayfish's Furniture Mod adds furniture and decorative blocks for bases, kitchens, outdoor spaces, and interiors that need more than a furnace wall and one sad chest.

Common Problems

A mod error appears when joining: This usually means the server is running Enigmatica 6, but your game client is not using the same pack or version. Install or update Enigmatica 6 in CurseForge, launch Minecraft through that profile, then reconnect.

The server is stuck loading or keeps crashing: This can happen when a new world was not generated after changing to the modpack. Create a new world from the server panel, then restart. If the console is waiting for confirmation during loading, enter `/fml confirm` in the console.

Modded items are missing on the server: If the items work in singleplayer but not on the server, the server may still be running the wrong game version or did not restart properly after the modpack change. Re-select Enigmatica 6 in the server panel, confirm the change, restart the server, and join again after startup completes.
