How to Install and Use Macaw's Bridges in Minecraft

Minecraft·May 20, 2026·16 min read

Overview

Building across cliffs, ravines, rivers, and mountain bases is common on Minecraft servers, but plain vanilla blocks can make those crossings look a little too basic. Macaw's Bridges adds a large collection of bridge pieces, stairs, rail bridges, rope bridges, supports, and material variants so your paths can look intentional instead of like a plank emergency.

The mod is available for both Forge and Fabric, which means the server and every joining player must use a matching mod loader and Minecraft version. Once installed, it gives builders more practical ways to connect terrain, decorate towns, and create minecart routes with better structure.

Mod Details

Macaw's Bridges is created by sketch_macaw on CurseForge, with artwork credited to PeachyMacaw. Across its Forge and Fabric releases, the mod has reached tens of millions of downloads. Its main purpose is simple: add better bridge building blocks without turning the game into an engineering degree.

Downloading Macaw's Bridges

  1. Open the Macaw's Bridges page on CurseForge.
  2. Select Files near the top of the page to view the available releases.
  1. Find the file that matches your Minecraft version and mod loader.
  2. Use the download button on the right side of that file.
  1. Save the `.jar` somewhere easy to find, since you will need it for both the server and client installation.

Server Installation

  1. Open your HolyHosting server panel and stop the server.
  2. In the game file or version area, make sure the server is running the same Minecraft Forge or Fabric version required by the mod.
  1. Open file access from the server panel.
  2. Create a `mods` folder if one does not exist, then open it.
  1. Upload the Macaw's Bridges `.jar` file into the `mods` folder.
  2. Wait until the upload reaches 100%, then return to the main server page.
  1. Start the server again so the mod can load.

Client Installation

Every player joining the modded server also needs Macaw's Bridges installed locally.

  1. Install the matching Forge or Fabric client profile first.
  2. Open the Minecraft Launcher and go to Installations.
  3. Hover over the modded profile, then click the folder icon to open its game directory.
  1. Create or open the `mods` folder.
  2. Place the Macaw's Bridges `.jar` file inside it.
  1. Go back to the launcher and start Minecraft with the modded profile.

Bridge Types and Features

After loading into a world, you can begin crafting and placing the new bridge blocks. Macaw's Bridges includes several styles, each with different uses and materials.

Basic bridges use a solid walkway with railings, making them useful for towns, castles, roads, and wider crossings where a cleaner built-up look fits best.

Rope bridges are lighter and more rustic, using wood beams and rope details. They work well in forests, cliffside paths, survival outposts, and wilderness builds.

Rail bridges are designed for minecart tracks. Their added support beams make railways look more believable when crossing gaps or running between elevated points.

Most bridge pieces, other than rope bridges, look better with support underneath. Support blocks help high bridges feel grounded and less like they are ignoring gravity out of spite.

Bridge stairs are useful when connecting structures at different heights. They can finish an entry point, link layered paths, or make a steep mountain route easier to walk.

Wood is not the only option. Stone-based variants such as sandstone, bricks, and deepslate can be used for bridges, stairs, and supports, making the mod flexible for medieval, cave, desert, and industrial builds.

For bridges that are two or more blocks wide, the ends may appear closed off. Craft pliers with two iron ingots and three iron nuggets, then right-click the end of a bridge to create an open entrance gap.

Final Notes

Macaw's Bridges is a focused mod, but it gives builders plenty to work with. You can connect mountain bases, design scenic footpaths, create supported rail systems, or add cleaner walkways around a town. Install it on both the server and client, match the Minecraft and loader versions, then start building bridges that look like they belong there.
