L_Ender's Cataclysm Mod Setup Guide for Minecraft

L_Ender's Cataclysm is a Forge mod for Minecraft players who want boss fights, dungeon runs, rare gear, and a bit of Minecraft Dungeons flavor inside Java Edition. It adds massive structures, dangerous enemies, special weapons, new building blocks, and several bosses that are very comfortable ruining an underprepared afternoon.

On a multiplayer server, the mod works best when every player has the same Forge version, the Cataclysm mod file, and the required Citadel dependency installed. The server also needs those same mod files in its `mods` folder. This guide covers the full setup process, then walks through the major dungeons, bosses, loot, and configuration options.

Downloading the Mod Files

Start by collecting the files needed for both your client and server.

  1. Open the L_Ender's Cataclysm page on CurseForge and select Files.
  1. Find the file that matches the Minecraft version you plan to run.
  2. Use the three-dot menu on the right, then choose Download File.
  1. Save the file somewhere easy to find.
  2. Repeat the same process for the Citadel dependency mod. Cataclysm requires it to load correctly.

Installing Cataclysm on Your Minecraft Client

Forge must be installed in the Minecraft Launcher before the mod can run. Make sure the Forge profile uses the same Minecraft version as the Cataclysm file you downloaded.

  1. Open the Minecraft Launcher and choose Installations.
  1. Locate your Forge profile, then click the folder icon.
  1. In the folder that opens, enter the `mods` directory. If it does not exist, create a folder named `mods`.
  2. Drag the Cataclysm and Citadel `.jar` files into that folder.
  1. Return to the launcher and start Minecraft with the Forge profile.

If Minecraft closes during launch, check that the mod, dependency, Forge build, and game version all match. Version mismatches are the usual suspect.

Installing Cataclysm on a Server

The server also needs Forge installed with the correct Minecraft version. In your server panel, select the matching Forge server type, restart once so the required folders generate, then upload the mod files.

  1. Open your server panel and open the file manager.
  1. Enter your panel password and log in.
  1. Open the `mods` folder, then choose Upload.
  2. Upload both the Cataclysm and Citadel `.jar` files. Wait until each upload reaches 100 percent.
  1. Return to the main server panel, generate a new world if you want Cataclysm structures to appear naturally, then restart the server.

A new world is strongly recommended. Existing worlds can still load the mod, but newly generated dungeons only appear in unexplored chunks.

First Steps After Joining

Once the server is online, join and begin like a normal survival world. Gather wood, stone, iron, diamonds, food, shields, ranged weapons, and plenty of healing supplies before hunting Cataclysm content. The mod is built around major encounters, not early-game sightseeing.

Most Cataclysm dungeons are found outside the Overworld, though one important structure can generate deep underground. Bosses drop special materials, weapons, and tools, including equipment with active abilities. Installing JEI is also helpful because it lets players inspect recipes and item uses without guessing at a crafting table like it owes them money.

Finding Cataclysm Dungeons

Cataclysm structures are spread across dimensions. Explore carefully, bring backup gear, and avoid entering boss arenas until everyone is ready.

Ancient Factory

Ancient Factories generate in the Overworld at deep Deepslate levels, usually near the lower parts of cave systems. These large structures include rooms, redstone machinery, and a boss encounter hidden inside.

Expect some searching before you find one. Digging down and exploring large cave networks is usually more effective than wandering the surface.

Burning Arena

The Burning Arena appears in the Nether as a huge structure with rooms, loot chests, and a boss stage near the upper middle area. The encounter uses Nether-themed attacks, so fire resistance, strong armor, and mobility are valuable.

This is not a casual stop between quartz mining trips. Treat it like a serious boss dungeon.

Soul Black Smith

The Soul Black Smith is another Nether structure, but it is smaller and more enclosed than the Burning Arena. There is less room to reposition, which makes the fight especially punishing if the group arrives without strong gear.

The reward potential is high, but the lack of space can turn mistakes into quick deaths. Bring friends if possible.

Ruined Citadel

Ruined Citadels are found in the End after the Ender Dragon has been defeated. These are some of the largest structures added by the mod, with many rooms, dangerous mobs, boss content, and high-value chests.

Because they appear in the End, you should already have late-game equipment before searching for one. Elytra, spare blocks, ender pearls, and healing items are all useful.

Bosses and Extra Mobs

Cataclysm adds several major bosses, including the Ender Golem, Netherite Monstrosity, The Harbinger, Ender Guardian, Ignis, and Ignited Revenant. These fights often include heavy attacks, knockback, phases, and arena pressure.

You may also run into additional enemies such as Endermapteras and Nameless Sorcerers while exploring certain structures. The exact threats depend on the dimension and dungeon. Before a boss fight, carry backup weapons, food, potions, shields, blocks, and a way to recover from being launched or cornered.

Loot, Weapons, and Special Materials

Bosses can drop rare materials and unique items, including Monstrous Horns, Ignitium Ingots, special weapons, and custom music discs. Drops are not guaranteed to be identical every time, so repeated clears may be needed for specific gear.

Many Cataclysm weapons and tools have active powers. For example, the Void Core can release ender energy toward enemies, but it has a cooldown so it cannot be spammed forever. Similar ability systems appear on swords, hammers, gauntlets, armor, and other items.

If a boss drops ingots or crafting materials, keep them. They are often needed for stronger equipment later.

Building Blocks

Cataclysm is not only for combat. Builders can collect dungeon blocks such as Obsidian Bricks, Void Stone, Polished End Stone, and other decorative materials. Some blocks are craftable too, including Chorus Planks made from End resources.

These blocks work well for dark fortresses, End-themed bases, Nether arenas, or any build that needs more menace than plain cobblestone can provide.

Mechanical Fusion Anvil

The Mechanical Fusion Anvil lets players combine certain powerful items. Crafting it requires 6 Witherite Ingots, 2 Redstone Blocks, and 1 Anvil. Witherite Ingots are the hard part because boss drops are randomized.

Once crafted, the anvil can merge compatible equipment. One example is combining an Ignitium Chestplate with an Elytra, giving the player both armor benefits and flight.

Multiplayer Dungeon Runs

Cataclysm works especially well on servers because its dungeons are large enough for group exploration and its bosses are dangerous enough to reward planning. Coordinate roles before entering a fight: one player can bring ranged damage, another can handle healing supplies, and another can focus on keeping the boss away from weaker teammates.

Boss loot may be limited, so server groups may want to agree on loot rules before the fight starts. That conversation is much easier before the rare drop hits the ground.

Configuring the Mod

Server owners can adjust Cataclysm behavior through its configuration file. This is useful for changing dungeon generation, boss settings, item behavior, or balance options depending on your server style.

  1. Open the file manager in your server panel and log in.
  2. Enter the `config` directory.
  1. Find `cataclysm.toml` and choose Edit.
  1. Make the changes you want, then save the file.
  1. Restart the server so the edited settings apply.

Before changing several options at once, consider saving a copy of the original file. That makes it easier to undo a setting if a boss suddenly becomes absurdly strong.

Common Problems

If players cannot join, first confirm they are using the correct server address and port or subdomain. Then check the client setup. Every player must launch the correct Forge version with Cataclysm and Citadel installed in the local `mods` folder.

If the server starts but Cataclysm content is missing, verify that Forge is installed on the server, both mod files are in the server `mods` folder, and the uploaded files match the server's Minecraft version. Also remember that structures generate in new chunks, so an old world may need fresh exploration or a new world to show the new dungeons.

If the server fails to boot, remove recently uploaded files and recheck versions. Cataclysm, Citadel, Forge, and Minecraft must all be compatible.
