How to Install the Crack Pack Modpack on a Minecraft Server

Minecraft·May 20, 2026·7 min read

Overview

Vanilla Minecraft has aged well, but after a few hundred hours the same biomes and the same iron pickaxe start to feel a little familiar. Modpacks are how veterans keep the game interesting without rebuilding the wheel themselves.

The Crack Pack, presented by Feed The Beast and originally curated around the MindCrack content team, bundles roughly 190 mods focused on exploration, automation, and tech progression. Expect dozens of new biomes, fresh dimensions, magic systems, mechanical contraptions, and weapons that make a diamond sword look like a kitchen utensil.

This guide covers two pieces: installing the Crack Pack on your computer so you can actually play it, and installing it on your HolyHosting Minecraft server so your friends can join you.

Installing the Crack Pack on Your PC

Before joining a multiplayer server, every player needs the modpack locally. The Feed The Beast launcher handles most of the heavy lifting.

  1. Visit the Feed The Beast website and download the launcher for your operating system (Windows, macOS, or Linux).
  2. Install and open the launcher, then click the Browse tab on the left sidebar.
  3. Search for FTB Presents CrackPack. It can sit a bit lower in the list, so scroll if it doesn't show right away.
  4. Hit New Instance, pick a name and the pack version you want, and let the launcher download everything.
  5. Once it finishes, find the instance under My Modpacks and launch it. A Minecraft window will open and ask you to log in with your Microsoft (or legacy Mojang) account.
  6. Press Play and you're in.

That covers the single player side. If you only want to mess around solo, you can stop here.

Installing the Crack Pack on Your HolyHosting Server

For multiplayer, the server itself needs to run the same modpack. The control panel does almost all of this for you.

  1. Open the HolyHosting control panel and sign in with your panel credentials.
  2. From your account dashboard, click into the server you want to convert.
  3. Open the JAR/version selector in your panel and change it to FTB Presents Crack Pack.
  4. The panel will warn you that existing mods and plugins will be overwritten. Confirm.
  5. It will then offer to install a fresh world to match the new mod set. Accept this too, since the vanilla world is unlikely to load cleanly with hundreds of new blocks and biomes. If you really need the old map, back it up via the file manager first.
  6. Restart the server.

Once the server boots, point your modded Minecraft client at the server's IP address and join. Friends do the same after installing the pack on their own machines.

Wrap Up

With nearly 190 mods, the Crack Pack has more content than most players will see in a year. New tools, new worlds, new ways to die in a cave. Have fun building, and try not to set the base on fire on the first day.
