Install Astral Sorcery for Minecraft and Begin Playing

Overview

Minecraft has a few built-in magical touches, from enchanting tables to rare illusioner encounters, but the vanilla system can feel fairly limited. Astral Sorcery expands that side of the game with star-powered mechanics, new effects, stronger tools, improved weapons, and more ways to explore or survive. The sky finally gets a proper job.

This guide explains how to download Astral Sorcery, install it on a Forge server, and add the same mod file to your Minecraft client.

Download Astral Sorcery

Astral Sorcery is available for several Minecraft versions, including 1.10, 1.12, 1.15, and 1.16. Choose the file that matches the Minecraft and Forge version you plan to run.

1. Open the Astral Sorcery page on CurseForge.
2. Select the Files tab near the top of the page.

1. Choose View All, then filter or scroll until you find the game version you want.

1. Click the download button beside the matching file.

After the download finishes, you should have a file with a name similar to `AstralSorcery.jar`. Keep this file handy, since it needs to be installed on both the server and every player's client.

Install Astral Sorcery on the Server

Before uploading the mod, make sure the server is running Forge for the same Minecraft version as the mod file.

1. Open the HolyHosting control panel for your Minecraft server.
2. Use your panel's version selector to switch the server JAR to Forge.
3. Restart the server so Forge can generate the required folders.
4. Return to the control panel and open the file manager or your FTP client.

1. Log in with your panel password, then open the `mods` folder.
2. Upload the Astral Sorcery `.jar` file into that folder.

1. Go back to the main server page and restart the server again.

When the restart completes, Forge should load Astral Sorcery automatically. If the server fails to start, double-check that the mod version, Forge version, and Minecraft version all match.

Install Astral Sorcery on Your Client

Players must also install Astral Sorcery locally. If the client does not have the same mod, it will not be able to join the modded server.

1. Download Forge from the official Forge download page.
2. Install Forge for the same Minecraft version used by the server.

1. Launch Minecraft with the Forge profile, then select Mods from the main menu.
2. Click Open mods folder.
3. Drag the Astral Sorcery `.jar` file into the opened `mods` folder.

1. Restart Minecraft.

Once Minecraft opens again, select Mods to confirm Astral Sorcery appears in the installed mod list. After that, join the server and start looking upward.
