How to Use the VillagersPlus Mod in Minecraft

Trading is one of Minecraft's cleanest ways to turn ordinary resources into something useful. A few emeralds can become enchanted books, building blocks, brewing supplies, or whatever else the local villagers have decided is worth selling today.

VillagersPlus expands that system with new villager professions, custom workstations, and extra trade paths for Forge and Fabric. It focuses on professions that feel like they belong in villages, while still giving builders, brewers, decorators, and ocean explorers more reasons to hunt down emeralds.

VillagersPlus Features

VillagersPlus adds several new careers to Minecraft villages. Each one comes with themed trades and a matching workstation, so they are more than simple reskins. The mod also supports datapack customization, and it includes compatibility with Supplementaries and Promenade for players who want to expand trades and related content further.

New Villager Professions

The Alchemist is built for potion users. Their workstation, the Alchemist Table, can combine gunpowder, three empty bottles, and one potion. There is a one in three chance of receiving three random potions. The other two in three outcomes are less friendly, because the table can explode and destroy what is inside. Science is sometimes expensive.

The Alchemist also trades useful brewing items, including Dragon's Breath, Blaze Rods, Phantom Membranes, Blaze Powder, and Ghast Tears.

The Oceanographer is aimed at players who build or gather underwater. This villager trades coral, sea plants, and aquatic mobs. Their Aquarium workstation can hold up to four sea plants and one bucketed mob, making it both decorative and practical.

At higher levels, Oceanographers can offer items such as Sponges, Nautilus Shells, and tropical fish. They are especially helpful for ocean bases, coral builds, and players who would rather trade than spend another afternoon swimming in circles.

The Occultist handles the stranger side of Minecraft materials. Expect trades involving amethyst, candles, soul-themed items, glow ink sacs, Spectral Arrows, and Bottles o' Enchanting. Their workstation is the Enchanted Basin, which can store and release experience.

To use the Enchanted Basin, sneak and right-click to store XP, then right-click normally to withdraw it. This makes the Occultist useful for enchanting setups, spooky builds, and anyone who wants a cleaner way to manage experience.

The Horticulturist focuses on plants, flowers, saplings, seeds, leaves, and natural blocks. Their Flower Tub workstation can hold up to four plants. As the villager levels up, they can unlock rare decorative items such as Spore Blossoms, Wither Roses, and Azalea Leaves.

This profession is one of the best fits for garden builds, greenhouse projects, and colorful village decoration.

Trade Overview

  • Horticulturist: Buys and sells flowers, saplings, seeds, leaves, and rare flora such as Spore Blossoms and Wither Roses.
  • Oceanographer: Trades coral, sea plants, aquatic mobs, and higher-level ocean resources. Some trades can help restore dead coral.
  • Occultist: Offers mystical materials, candles, amethyst, glow ink sacs, Spectral Arrows, and experience bottles.
  • Alchemist: Provides potion ingredients and brewing resources for players who use potions often.

Downloading VillagersPlus

Download VillagersPlus from its Modrinth page, then choose the file that matches your Minecraft version and mod loader. Save the `.jar` file somewhere easy to find.

If you are using Fabric, also download Fabric API, since it is required. Forge players do not need an extra dependency for VillagersPlus itself.

Installing on Your Client

If you use the default Minecraft Launcher, install Forge or Fabric first, then follow these steps:

  1. Open the Minecraft Launcher.
  2. Go to the Installations tab.
  3. Click the folder icon beside your Forge or Fabric profile.
  4. Open the `mods` folder, or create it if it does not exist.
  5. Move the VillagersPlus `.jar` file into that folder.
  6. Add Fabric API too if you are using Fabric.
  7. Launch the game with the matching modded profile.

You can also use the Modrinth App. Open your profile or modpack, select Add Mods, search for VillagersPlus, install it, and launch the profile. CurseForge and other launchers can work too, but their buttons may be in slightly different places.

Installing on a Server

For multiplayer, the server and every joining client need the same compatible VillagersPlus version and the same mod loader. Uploading the mod only to your client will not make it work on a server.

  1. Stop your Minecraft server.
  2. Open the HolyHosting control panel or your server file manager.
  3. Go to the `mods` directory.
  4. Upload the VillagersPlus `.jar` file and Fabric API if your server uses Fabric.
  5. Restart the server.
  6. Generate a new world or explore new chunks if you want the new villagers to appear naturally.

FAQ

Does VillagersPlus work with Forge and Fabric?

Yes. VillagersPlus is available for both Forge and Fabric across supported Minecraft versions. Always match the mod file to the exact loader and game version you are running.

Does the mod need dependencies?

Forge installs do not require an extra dependency for the mod. Fabric installs require Fabric API.

Why are the new villagers not appearing?

Check that VillagersPlus is installed on both the client and server, using the same Minecraft version and loader. If everything matches, explore new chunks or start a new world so villages can generate with the new content.

Does VillagersPlus support other mods?

Official compatibility includes Supplementaries and Promenade. Other mods may work alongside it, but those are the main integrations to check first.
