How to Unlock GATE Security Crates in Abiotic Factor

GATE Security Crates contain useful survival gear in Abiotic Factor, including security equipment, ammo, and repair supplies. They are not opened with a normal interaction, though. You need a specific key, and getting that key requires progress through one of the game's stranger areas.

Opening GATE Security Crates

To open a GATE Security Crate, bring a GATE Security Key. Warren Bunning sells these keys in the Office Sector, trading 1x GATE Security Key for 1x Nyxshade Seed.

There is one important condition: Warren only offers GATE Security Keys after players have discovered and entered the Nightmare Realm. If the trade does not appear, progress that part of the game first.

How to Craft Nyxshade Seeds

Nyxshade Seeds are crafted at the Crafting Bench update source. The recipe requires:

• 10x Night Essence
• 5x Leyak Essence
• 1x Anteverse Wheat Seed
• 1x Enethiol

Night Essence comes from fighting the IS-0059 Reaper in the Security Sector. It can also be obtained by catching Inkfish in The Night Realm. Leyak Essence drops from Leyaks in the XR Containment area of the Labs Sector. Anteverse Wheat Seed and Enethiol are described as reasonably common around the facility.

GATE Security Crate Loot

Some GATE Security Crate rewards are guaranteed, including certain weapons. Possible items include:

• Night Pass
• Light Gun Repair Kit
• Intermediate Gun Repair Kit
• Security Pistol
• Security Vest
• Security Helmet
• 9mm Ammo

There are currently five GATE Security Crates in Abiotic Factor. Their colors can blend into nearby objects, so check corners carefully instead of sprinting past free gear like a very busy intern.

• Next to Alice Hong in the Level 2 Security Sector of the Office Sector.
• In a small room overlooking Silo 3 in Level 3 Physics Lab D of the Office Sector.
• At the place where Sarah Frake is first found, on a catwalk outside an office in Manufacturing West.
• In a hallway above the entryway to Containment Block Dirac in the Cascade Laboratories.
• Near the office with the hologram in the Security Sector.
