How to Take a Timings Report on Your Minecraft Server
Note: This guide applies to Spigot, PaperSpigot, and SpongeForge servers only — it won’t work with other server types.Make sure to take the timings report while your server is experiencing lag, and let it run for at least ten minutes before analyzing it.
A timings report is a diagnostic tool used in Spigot, PaperSpigot, and SpongeForge servers that provides a detailed breakdown of your server’s performance. It’s often used to identify the source of server lag and is an extremely helpful tool for managing and optimizing your server.
It’s completely normal if the report seems overwhelming at first — it can look like a wall of numbers and colors.Don’t worry — our team is always happy to help if you get stuck reading your report.
How to Take a Timings Report on Spigot/PaperSpigot
Start your server and connect to it.
Make sure you have operator (admin) permissions.
As soon as your server starts experiencing performance issues, enter the following command:
/timings on

You’ll see a message appear in chat. Once this message shows up, wait at least ten minutes — the timings report is being recorded in the background.
After about 10–15 minutes, enter the following command:
/timings paste

A link will appear in the chat — this is your timings report! You can share this link with others or use it to analyze your server’s performance.
How to Take a Timings Report on SpongeForge
Make sure SpongeForge is successfully installed on your server.
Start your server and connect to it.
Make sure you have operator (admin) permissions.
As soon as your server begins experiencing performance issues, enter the following command:
/sponge timings on
Wait at least 10 minutes before running the next command:
/sponge timings report
Waiting this amount of time gives the most accurate representation of where your server’s performance might be struggling.

You’ll then see a link appear — this is your timings report!
