How to Set Up and Use Proximity Voice Chat in Minecraft

Simple Voice Chat is a proximity chat mod/plugin that allows players to talk to each other within the game, without needing to use Discord. It adds more immersion and is ideal for any server.

🛠️ Plugin Installation (Spigot/PaperMC):

  • Make sure the server is using a compatible version (Spigot or PaperMC).
  • Download the plugin and ProtocolLib (required).
    Bukkit
  • Upload the .jar files to the plugins folder via FTP.
  • Restart the server.

🔧 Mod Installation (Forge/Fabric):

  • Change the server version to Forge or Fabric from the panel.
  • Download the mod from CurseForge (based on version).
    Curseforge
  • Upload the .jar file to the mods folder via FTP.
  • Restart the server.

⚙️ VoiceChat Configuration:

  • Locate the file voicechat-server.properties or voicechat-server depending on your version:
    • Spigot: plugins > Simple Voice Chat
    • Forge/Fabric: config > voicechat
  • Change bind_address to the server IP and port to the corresponding port.

  • Save and restart the server.

🎮 Client Requirements:

Players must have the Simple Voice Chat mod installed on their PC, compatible with the server version (Fabric or Forge).
