Hi — in this guide we’ll show you effective methods to protect your server and keep intruders out. There are many bots built to infiltrate unprotected servers and wreak havoc, including griefing. Keep reading to learn how to secure your server!
Download the Open
Login PluginThe first option to prevent bots that join your server from interacting with it is to use the OpenLogin plugin (or a similar plugin). Simply download the plugin’s .jar file: https://www.spigotmc.org/resources/openlogin-1-7x-1-21x.57272/

Once the plugin is downloaded, do the following:
Access your server’s control panel.
Go to the "Files" section.
Open the "plugins" folder and upload the .jar file you downloaded earlier.

Start the server, and that’s it! Now, users will be required to register with a password to play on the server—something bots won’t be able to do.

Enable the Whitelist
Another way to prevent intruders is by enabling the whitelist. This is very easy—just follow these steps:
Access your server’s control panel.
Go to the "Files" section.
Open the server.properties file.
Find the line white-list and change its value to true.
Save the changes.

Now, let’s add users to our whitelist with the following command: Add your friends using:
whitelist add [player_name]

To remove a user from the whitelist, simply type:
whitelist remove [player_name]

This option will ensure that only players you’ve authorized can join the server. Conclusion
