How to Locate Pale Garden Biomes in Minecraft The Garden Awakens

Minecraft·December 4, 2024·7 min read

Pale garden biomes bring a colder, quieter kind of danger to Minecraft The Garden Awakens. Pale oak trees, muted terrain, and the creaking make the biome stand out once you find it. The tricky part is that it can be hidden inside or beside dark forests.

What Pale Garden Biomes Are

Pale gardens are a new biome from the Minecraft winter game drop called The Garden Awakens, available as part of the latest snapshot. Their gray and white color palette makes them distinct from most forests, but dark forest canopies can block them from easy view.

Inside a pale garden, players will find pale oak trees and pale carpet moss across a quiet, monochrome landscape. At night, the hostile creaking can spawn. It attacks only when the player looks away, which is rude, effective, and very Minecraft.

How Pale Gardens Generate

Pale gardens are a variant of the dark forest biome and follow similar generation rules. They are most likely to appear in high-humidity regions.

Birch forests and jungles are useful signs because they often border dark forests. Old-growth taiga can also border dark forests, though less commonly. Pale gardens may appear next to a dark forest or completely inside one.

Their shape is usually circular, ranging from small patches to very large areas. As with most world generation, exact size and placement vary by seed.

Finding Pale Gardens Without Commands

The best non-command strategy is to explore humid biome regions and watch for dark forests, birch forests, jungles, and old-growth taiga. Since pale gardens can be tucked into dark forests, scan carefully rather than only checking biome edges.

Vanilla Minecraft does not include a map or item that leads directly to pale gardens. Travel, high viewpoints, and patience are the main tools here. An elytra can make the search much faster if one is available.

Finding Pale Gardens with Commands

If you want the fastest route, use the `/locate` command. It provides coordinates for the nearest matching biome or structure, with teleport options available when permissions allow.

The command is:

  • /locate biome minecraft:pale_garden

On servers, this command requires OP permissions.

Reaching a Pale Garden

Once you arrive, mark the location before exploring too deeply. Pale gardens are valuable to find, but the creaking makes nighttime visits dangerous for unprepared players.

Bring proper gear, keep your bearings, and avoid treating the biome like a normal forest stroll. It is much less interested in being normal.
