Installing and Using Modrinth for Minecraft
Setting up mods or modpacks in Minecraft can be tedious work, especially for those who are new to the scene. Fortunately, there are many third-party launchers that provide easy means to achieve that. One of them has recently developed its own app for players to use, known as Modrinth. This service is an alternative option to CurseForge, as it is popular and easy to use. Whether you want to have a custom profile with specific mods or quickly install modpacks to play with friends, there are many opportunities with this launcher. There is even a way to import your existing profiles from other launchers to make this all-in-one service easier to use. Many Minecraft players are starting to use Modrinth compared to different launchers, but it can be confusing to get started with. This is amplified if you are not familiar with the platform, as it is slightly unique compared to other apps. Because of this, we have created this Holy Hosting guide to show you how to install and use Modrinth for Minecraft.
Download Modrinth
1. Go to the Modrinth app page, then click Download for your operating system.

2. Save this file somewhere easily accessible on your computer, then open it.
3. After confirming the settings, click Install or something similar to finalize the installation.

4. When it is finished, launch the app to start using Modrinth.
Getting Started
After installing the Modrinth app, you will want to click the Get Started button when prompted. This allows you to sign in with your Microsoft email linked to your Minecraft account, along with setting up other credentials for their service. Once you have done all of this, you can begin installing modpacks, creating custom profiles for standalone mods, or even importing other instances from different launchers. Whether you want to play Dawncraft with friends or just try out Apotheosis, you have many options. When you are ready to learn how to use Modrinth, check out the following subsections to get started.
Install Modpacks
The most popular feature of the Modrinth app is modpack installation, as it will quickly and automatically set up all the necessary mods for you to play in Minecraft. Whether you use Forge, Fabric, or even Quilt, you have the opportunity to search for modpacks for all of them. With this in mind, follow the steps below to begin this process.
1. While in the Modrinth app, click the Browse button on the left side.
2. Then, continue using the Filter options to narrow down the modpacks you want.

Note: You can also use the Search Modpacks field if you already have one in mind.
3. Once you have found the desired modpack, click the Install button in the bottom right.

4. Wait for the download to finish, then go to your Library and click Play on it.
Create Custom Profiles
Instead of using predefined modpacks, you can create your own with desired mods through custom profiles or instances. These are fully customizable, from the loader type to the Minecraft version you want. Note that you will have to manually search for and add mods to this profile after creating it, which is easy to do in the Modrinth app. However, this is not just for modifications, as you can also install datapacks, shaders, and even resource packs. The instructions below will guide you through the entire process.
1. In the Modrinth app, click the Plus button near the bottom left corner.
2. Proceed to fill in the Name, Loader, and Game Version fields as needed.

3. Once you are done, click Create in the bottom right corner.

4. Wait for all necessary files to download, then go to the profile.
5. Then, click Add Content to start installing add-ons in your new instance.

Note: Use the Filter options to accurately find your mods, datapacks, etc. for the profile.
Import Profiles
If you have used other services like ATLauncher or CurseForge to play with mods and modpacks, then it is possible to import your pro
files into Modrinth. This is useful if you or others have already created a custom instance with everything set up, as it can be frustrating to repeat that process on this new launcher. When you are ready to get started, the following steps will help you achieve this goal.
1. Click the Plus icon near the bottom left corner in the Modrinth app.
2. Near the top left corner in the dialog box, press the Import From Launcher option.

3. After doing this, continue selecting your desired launcher from the list.
4. Find or type the directory path for the "Instances" subfolder in the text box.

Note: Do not include the "... \Instances" in the path, as it is a subfolder.
5. Continue clicking the Refresh button, then check your desired profile in the list.

6. Do this for all instances you want, then press Import at the bottom to transfer them.
Modrinth App Settings
In some cases, it may be necessary to adjust the Modrinth app options for

your setup. For example, allocating more memory or changing the game resolution are some options to consider. These are useful when customizing and optimizing your gaming experience. These options are accessible by pressing the Settings icon in the bottom left corner of the app.
Conclusion
Whether you want to use modpacks or standalone mods in a custom profile, you have the opportunity to do both with the Modrinth app. This is a wonderful launcher that is gaining popularity in the scene, even being on par with CurseForge in the modding community. From its modding capabilities to installing shaders, datapacks, or resource packs, Modrinth is becoming an all-in-one service for countless players. In addition to this, we hope this Holy Hosting tutorial has helped you learn all about this launcher and how to use it for Minecraft.
