How to Fix the "Can't Keep Up" Error on Your Minecraft Server

Minecraft·March 22, 2026·3 min read

If the famous "CAN'T KEEP UP..." error is appearing in your server console, it is because your server is not able to run at an optimal speed of 20TPS, and therefore lag can be observed within it. There are several reasons why this may be happening: plugins that overload the server, poor optimization, or simply that your plan cannot support that much load.

To fix the "CAN'T KEEP UP..." error, we recommend reading our optimization guide, which can improve your server's performance by up to 500%. If you have already done so, or if you don't notice a difference after doing it, it is most likely that your current hosting plan is not able to support the load of your server. If you wish to upgrade to a better one, you can contact us from the red button below, and we will guide you on which plan is right for your server.
