How to Find and Farm Resin Clumps in Minecraft 1.21.4

Minecraft·December 17, 2024·5 min read

Resin in Minecraft 1.21.4 is used for features such as armor trims and crafting creaking hearts. To gather it, players need the right structure, biome, or a very annoyed creaking.

Where Resin Comes From

Resin clumps have three sources: woodland mansion chests, destroyed creaking hearts, and resin generated by attacking creaking.

Woodland mansions are extremely rare structures found in dark forest biomes, so they are not the easiest source. Creaking hearts and creaking are found in pale garden biomes, making pale gardens the better place to focus.

The best repeatable method is attacking a creaking and collecting the resin that appears on pale oak logs around its creaking heart.

How to Farm Resin Clumps

When a creaking is attacked, resin can generate on the pale oak logs around its creaking heart once every five seconds. This works with natural creaking hearts, but it is easier if the heart has been collected with silk touch or crafted and placed somewhere safer.

A creaking heart must be stacked vertically between two pale oak logs to activate. Light up an area with torches, place the heart between two vertical pale oak logs, then wait for night.

The creaking always spawns within 32 blocks of the heart. Once it appears, lure it closer by looking at it, then looking away, until it is near the setup.

Stand where both the creaking and heart stay visible, then begin attacking the creaking. Resin will appear on the connected pale oak logs and can be broken instantly by punching it.

Keep the creaking in sight, repeat the hits, and gather resin until sunrise makes it despawn.
