How to Farm Crafting XP in Abiotic Factor

Crafting is one of the most useful skills in Abiotic Factor because it improves long-term progression, bench upgrades, recipe sharing, durability, and material efficiency. It levels naturally while playing, but anyone who wants the perks sooner can farm Crafting XP with a few repeatable methods.

Prepare XP Buffs First

Before grinding, stack any available XP bonuses. The most direct option is Balanced Stew, made from 1x Full Pot of Water, 1x Raw Carbuncle, 1x Carbuncle Mushroom, and 1x Salt. Cook the Uncooked Balanced Stew, eat it, and the Big Brain buff grants +10% Crafting and Construction XP for 10 minutes.

Eating a Human Brain adds another 15% XP gain. Players who have the Pet Rock trinket from Cascade Laboratories can also equip it to boost the lowest skill, which may be Crafting depending on the character.

Reliable Crafting XP Methods

Dismantle Facility Items

The Facility is packed with furniture, clutter, and other objects that can be taken apart. Dismantling them gives Crafting XP while returning useful materials, so it is worth breaking down anything that is not nailed to the timeline.

Scrap Rotten Food and Odd Materials

Food is easy to overstock, and extra meals eventually become Rotten Food. Instead of letting it waste inventory space, scrap it at a Crafting Bench for Crafting XP. Some non-food items, including a Human Arm, can also be scrapped at a Repair Bench for additional progress.

Loop Water Bottles

A simple early-game farm uses only 1x Plastic Scrap and access to a Crafting Bench. Craft the Plastic Scrap into a Water Bottle, then scrap the Water Bottle back into Plastic Scrap. Repeat the cycle for steady Crafting XP.

This works early because the resource requirement is tiny. The drawback is scaling. Higher Crafting levels need more XP, so the Water Bottle loop becomes slower over time unless patience has already been upgraded to level 20.

Farm Crafting and Construction Together

A stronger loop can level both Crafting and Construction, but it requires defeating a Security Robot for a Security Bot CPU. Take the CPU to The Blacksmith at the FORGE and trade it for an Anvil.

Scrap the Anvil into 20x Metal Scrap. Then use 2x Metal Scrap at the Crafting Bench to make 1x Box of Screws. Combine 1x Box of Screws with 1x Wood to build an Item Stand, then deconstruct the Item Stand to recover the Wood. Repeat the process to keep earning Crafting and Construction XP from the same material chain.

You do not need a huge stockpile of Security Bot CPUs to start, but having more makes the method smoother.

Crafting Skill Milestones

Each Crafting level slightly improves crafting performance. Every level increases crafting speed by 0.01 seconds and reduces item durability loss chance by 2%. Key milestone perks unlock larger benefits:

• More Bench, Crafting Level 2: Unlocks the first Crafting Bench upgrade tier.
• Mega Bench, Crafting Level 5: Unlocks the second Crafting Bench upgrade tier.
• Beautiful Blueprints, Crafting Level 8: Lets other players on the same server use the host's unlocked recipes without finishing the same research phases.
• Eye for Detail, Crafting Level 10: Adds temporary bonus durability to crafted items.
• Super Bench, Crafting Level 15: Unlocks the final Crafting Bench upgrade tier.
• Precision Engineering, Crafting Level 20: Added in Update 1.0, giving a small chance to spend one fewer material when a recipe asks for more than one.

Crafting Bench Upgrades

Tier 1

• Dioxohealer: Requires 1x Medkit, 10x Bio Scrap, and 5x Anteverse Wheat. The bench passively heals nearby players, with nearby farmable plants increasing the rate up to 6 plants.
• Item Transporter: Requires 2x Raw Exor Heart and 1x Energy Brick. The bench can pull from nearby containers when crafting recipes.
• Bench Warmer: Requires 1x Heater and 4x Box of Screws. The bench radiates heat in all directions.

Tier 2

• Reinforced Bench: Requires 20x Metal Scrap, 4x Refined Carbon, and 2x Reinforced Wooden Plank. The bench takes 30% less damage.
• Portal Suppression Field: Requires 4x Raw Exor Heart, 2x Anteverse Gem, and 8x Military Electronics. Portal Storms stop spawning near the bench, though non-portal assaults can still happen.

Tier 3

• Spontaneous Matter Synthesizer: Requires 1x Storage Crate (Large), 2x Neutrino Mapper, 1x Raw Exor Heart, and 1x Reinforced CPU. It slowly fills a small container with random useful scrap and occasional other items.
• Metabolic Temporal Field: Requires 1x Reinforced CPU, 1x Distribution Pad, 2x Raw Exor Heart, and 4x Hydro Pipe. Hunger, Thirst, and Continence drain much more slowly inside the bench radius.
