How to Add Copper Golems to Minecraft

Minecraft·April 6, 2022·5 min read

The copper golem did not win its Minecraft mob vote, but players have not exactly let the little copper friend rest. While it can not be made in vanilla Minecraft, Bedrock addons and Java mods can still bring copper golems into the game.

What Copper Golems Were Meant to Do

If the copper golem had won the vote, it would have interacted with copper buttons, oxidized like copper blocks, and worked as a lightning rod. Without regular scraping from an axe, it would eventually oxidize into a statue.

The most interesting part was its button behavior. Copper golems could have opened up new redstone designs by pressing copper buttons, adding random or automated interaction possibilities that Allay does not provide. That makes its loss a little painful for redstone players, but fans have recreated the idea through third-party files.

Bedrock Edition Copper Golems

Sammy's Copper Golems is a Bedrock Edition addon released by Reddit user /u/samasaurus6.

The addon includes copper golems, copper buttons, the expected oxidation behavior, and extra features that fit the copper theme. Players looking for the Bedrock version can find the addon details and download information for free on MCPEDL.

Java Edition Copper Golems

Java Edition players also have multiple mod options. The source highlights MrJoshuaT's Copper Golem for Fabric, which was described as one of the more popular choices at the time.

This mod adds the proposed copper golem functions from the mob vote, including copper buttons. To use it, players need Fabric installed on the client along with the mod file itself.

Can Copper Golems Work in Multiplayer?

Yes, these addons and mods can be used in multiplayer when installed correctly for the server or players involved. For hosted Minecraft servers, HolyHosting can run modded or addon-based setups depending on the edition and configuration.

Copper golems may not be part of vanilla Minecraft, but the community kept the concept alive. Until Mojang revisits old mob vote candidates, addons and mods remain the way to put a tiny oxidizing button-presser in your world.
