How to Host a Regrowth Modpack Server

Minecraft·May 20, 2026·9 min read

Regrowth is built for Minecraft players who want survival to feel like a restoration project with teeth. Instead of dropping into a normal world full of trees, caves, and easy materials, you begin in a dead wasteland and slowly bring it back to life. Progress comes from quests, farming, clever resource systems, and a steady mix of magic and technology.

This guide covers how to install Regrowth on your client, load it on a HolyHosting server, and understand the main gameplay loop before the barren dirt starts judging your life choices.

Install Regrowth on Your Computer

Regrowth is available through CurseForge, so the client setup is straightforward.

  1. Install the CurseForge app if it is not already on your computer.
  2. Open CurseForge and search for Regrowth.
  3. Select the modpack, then click Install.
  4. Wait for the download to complete.
  5. Launch the profile from My Modpacks when you are ready to join.

Make sure everyone joining the server uses the same modpack version. Mismatched versions are one of the most common causes of connection errors.

Install Regrowth on a Server

Once your Minecraft server is ready, switch it to the Regrowth modpack from the server panel.

  1. Open your HolyHosting server panel.
  2. Go to the game version or modpack selection area.
  3. Search for Regrowth and choose the matching modpack entry.
  4. When prompted, change the version and generate a new world.
  5. Restart the server and wait for the startup process to finish.
  6. Join using the Regrowth profile installed through CurseForge.

A fresh world is strongly recommended for this pack because its progression depends on the custom wasteland start and quest structure.

What Regrowth Changes

Regrowth begins with scarcity. There are no lush forests to chop down, no easy ore veins waiting nearby, and very few natural resources within reach. Standard mining and exploration take a back seat to alternative resource generation, so players must rebuild basic materials through farming, crafting chains, and mod-specific mechanics.

The early game is less about fighting monsters and more about solving a resource puzzle. Quests point you toward the next useful system, helping you turn an empty landscape into something functional one step at a time.

Quest-Based Progression

Regrowth uses the HQM questbook as both a guide and a progression map. It introduces mechanics in a controlled order, leading players from basic survival into more advanced tools, crops, automation, and world restoration systems.

Unlike some HQM packs, Regrowth does not rely on harsh hardcore death rules to create difficulty. The challenge comes from planning, learning, and unlocking new options. Completing quests opens access to more systems, which gradually expands what your base can produce.

Magic, Automation, and Restoration

As the pack develops, technical and magical mods begin to work together. Automation helps scale resource production, while magic-focused systems support environmental recovery and deeper progression. The result is a slower, layered modpack where every improvement feels earned.

Why Play Regrowth With Friends?

Regrowth works especially well on a multiplayer server because tasks can be divided naturally. One player can focus on crops and resource generation, another can build automation, and someone else can push through magical progression. Starting from almost nothing makes each upgrade visible, useful, and a little satisfying.

For players who enjoy guided progression, rebuilding projects, and modpacks that reward patience over rushing, Regrowth is a strong choice for a shared Minecraft server.
