FTB Monster is one of those packs that earned its name. Back when it dropped, it was marketed as the largest Feed The Beast modpack ever assembled, and even years later the kitchen-sink approach still keeps a server lively for weeks. It was built as the successor to FTB Unleashed, with a wider roster of mods picked up from community feedback.
Like most FTB releases, Monster is intentionally broad. Technical mods sit next to magical ones, with a layer of quality-of-life and exploration content rounding things out. You get the heavyweights (industrial machines, automation, power grids) alongside the weirder stuff that makes a survival world feel alive.
A few things make Monster worth revisiting:
The pack rewards both newcomers who want a guided modded experience and veterans who enjoy chaining systems together. Multiplayer is where it really shines, so grab a few friends before spinning up a world.
The simplest route is the official FTB launcher, which handles dependencies and Java setup for you.

First launch can take a minute. The pack is large and Minecraft needs time to load every mod.
To run Monster on a server, the jar has to match the pack version your client uses. On HolyHosting, swapping the jar is a few clicks.
If the server complains on first boot, check that your client and server are on the same Monster version. Mismatched jars are the usual culprit.
FTB Monster is dense, varied, and built for long playthroughs. Install the launcher, pick the jar on your server, and you have weeks of content waiting. Bring friends if you can. Modded survival is always better when someone else is around to blame for the factory blowing up.
