Factorio 2.0 and the Space Age expansion brought one of the largest sets of changes the factory builder has seen. The update focuses on new planets, space logistics, advanced production systems, and a long list of quality-of-life improvements for every Factorio client.

Factorio Friday Facts #418 listed the Factorio 2.0 release date as October 21, 2024. The developers chose that date to leave enough time after summer vacations for polish and bug fixing before Christmas.
The bigger package is called Space Age. It adds space platforms, interplanetary logistics, new planets, overhauled systems, and new production chains. Some improvements are part of Factorio 2.0 itself, while Space Age contains the expansion-specific planets and progression.
