Best Ways to Find Diamonds in Minecraft 1.21

Diamonds have been Minecraft's classic treasure since the early days, but the best ways to find them have changed over time. In Minecraft 1.21, mining level, cave size, and loot sources all matter.

Strip Mining for Diamonds

Strip mining means digging down into the lower Overworld and mining repeated tunnels, usually spaced two or three blocks apart. The goal is to expose as many blocks as possible while reducing the chance that diamond ore is left hidden between tunnels.

Diamond ore can generate below Y = 15, but it is more common from around Y = -50 to Y = -64. For strip mining, Y = -58 or Y = -59 is a practical target because going lower brings you into bedrock interruptions.
