Security Robots make the Facility much worse after dark. When the power cuts out at night, these bots leave their charging stations and attack anything they consider a threat, which unfortunately includes curious scientists with pockets full of office trash.

A Security Robot looks intimidating, but its main weakness is simple: it only attacks in melee range. If players avoid standing close to it, the fight becomes far more manageable. The safest approach is to use ranged weapons and keep enough distance that the robot cannot swing at you.
That also means melee weapons are a risky choice. They can work if your armor and health are strong enough, but fighting a metal security machine at arm's length is rarely the clever option.
For extra context on the enemy's behavior, players have discussed similar tactics in the Abiotic Factor Steam discussions.

Security Robots cannot climb and do not have ranged attacks. Any stable elevated position can turn the fight in your favor. In the lobby after the cafeteria, for example, jump onto the central fountain and shoot the bot while it struggles to reach you.
Guns and other ranged options are ideal here. The goal is not style points. It is to avoid being flattened by a walking appliance with anger issues.

Security Robots remain inactive during the day and begin roaming after the power goes out at 9 PM. Check your watch, then prepare the area around the bot's charging station before it wakes.
Strong trap choices include:
Turrets can also help. The Chopinator and Laser Turret are good options near a charging station. Some traps and turrets need power, so place them close to a power source or connect batteries in a chain to keep everything active.

Players who want to control the encounter can attack the charging station during the day. This wakes the Security Robot early, letting you fight it before the nightly patrol begins. If defeated this way, the bot should respawn in the charging station at night instead of roaming the sector.
This method is useful when you already have weapons, armor, and a prepared escape route. It is less useful if the plan is "hit robot, panic." That plan has been tested extensively by science.

The electrified water tactic mainly applies to the Security Robot in the Office Sector on Level 3. Lure the bot toward the nearby electrified water, then jump across the platforms to reach safety on the other side.
The robot will try to follow and take damage from the water instead. Wait until it collapses, then collect the loot.

Defeating a Security Robot can reward several items:
The Security Bot CPU is especially valuable. It can be traded to The Blacksmith in Manufacturing West for an Anvil. It is also used to craft:
After defeating the robot, destroy the body for a chance at extra salvage. Possible materials include:
