Abiotic Factor Version 1.0 added several new features to the Facility, including strange entities. One of the oddest is the Moving Box, a pale storage cube with working legs. It looks like a mimic auditioning for office logistics, but it is harmless.

The Moving Box is a non-hostile entity that follows nearby players, especially when given items as "treats." Because it looks like a lumpy walking container, it is easy to mistake for something dangerous at first glance.
Its main value is storage. Inventory space is limited in Abiotic Factor, and the Moving Box can act as an extra mobile container. Some players treat it like a pet. Others treat it like a backpack with personal boundaries. Both readings are valid enough for a facility full of anomalies.
The Moving Box does not have one fixed spawn location. It can appear in random places after players progress through the Flathill area. Once unlocked, it may show up almost anywhere, including deeper parts of the Facility or near a base while players are working on tasks.
It usually follows players, but it can wander off. Dropping items near it may encourage the Moving Box to follow again.
The Moving Box automatically picks up loose or dropped items on the ground near players. That makes it useful as a small roaming loot collector, even though it cannot be directly commanded.
To access its storage, walk up to the Moving Box and interact with it. The inventory window opens with a special storage section on the right showing the box's item slots.
Players can also fill its slots intentionally to stop it from collecting random objects. For example, use the Moving Box for spare materials while keeping weapons, healing items, and tools in the main inventory.
The Moving Box is useful, but not perfectly obedient. It can block doors or passageways, and because it sometimes chooses its own path, storing critical items inside it can be risky. Use it for helpful overflow storage, but think twice before loading it with anything that would be painful to lose.
