A lab coat is not enough protection once Abiotic Factor starts throwing soldiers, anomalies, bullets, cold zones, and other nonsense at the player. Armor sets can add raw defense, movement perks, bleeding recovery, radiation utility, or team support.

This ranking compares armor stats, weight, crafting requirements, unique effects, and set bonuses. It is still worth choosing gear that fits the build. A mathematically strong armor set is not useful if it fights the player's strategy.

10. F.O.R.G.E. Armor Set

F.O.R.G.E. armor is a practical step above early-game gear. It is not the toughest set, but its bullet deflection bonuses make it valuable against armed human enemies and post-early-game firefights.

How to Use This Ranking

Armor choice should match the problem in front of the player. Bullet-heavy encounters favor F.O.R.G.E. or A.T.O.M.S. bonuses, cold areas reward resistance pieces, and multiplayer groups can get more value from Legate than solo players. Weight also matters. A heavy defensive set can keep a character alive, but it may slow looting routes and make stamina management less forgiving.

Crafting cost is part of the ranking as well. Some late-game sets have excellent numbers, but rare materials and portal-world requirements can delay them until the player already has other strong options. Treat the order as a practical survival ranking, not a law written on a clipboard by the worst person in the lab.
