Voyagers of Nera Spirit Abilities: Full Skill List and Guide Spirit Locations

Other Games·September 25, 2025·14 min read

Spirit Abilities decide what your character can actually do in combat in Voyagers of Nera. Each one is locked behind a Guide Spirit you have to find and rescue across the three archipelagos, so building the loadout you want means a fair bit of exploration. This guide walks through every ability, where to find the matching Guide Spirit, and how the slot system works.

How Spirit Abilities Work

Think of Spirit Abilities as the Voyagers of Nera version of spells. Since the game hit Early Access, every character can slot two Major and two Minor abilities. Major abilities are active spells you trigger in the moment. Minor abilities are passive bonuses working quietly in the background.

If you want to rearrange your loadout or drop an ability, head back to a Spirit Anchor. That same Anchor is also your shortcut for tracking down Guide Spirits. Press G (default binding) at any Anchor to mark the nearest lost Guide Spirit on your map. Worth noting: this isn't mandatory. You can wander freely and stumble into Guide Spirits on your own if you prefer that approach.

The Guide Spirits themselves are scattered across three regions: The Embrace, The Reef, and The Greatwood. Each region holds its own distinct set of abilities, listed below.

The Embrace: Spirit Abilities and Spirits

The Embrace holds the largest pool of starter abilities, mixing healing, defensive support, and a few utility skills aimed at early-game playstyles.

  1. Wellspring: Drops a ring of healing water on the ground, restoring health to every ally inside its radius.
  2. Spiritfire: Wreathes you in flame, burning nearby enemies over time.
  3. Earthen Ward: Creates a defensive circle that boosts the armor of you and any allies standing inside.
  4. Lightning Shot: Long-range lightning bolt that damages the first target it hits.
  5. Windsurge: Each attack has a chance to release a wind burst, returning a portion of your stamina.
  6. Ocean's Favor: Faster swimming and reduced stamina cost while swim-sprinting.
  7. Healing Tide: While swimming, restores health over time.
  8. Rain Stance: Each attack has a chance to call down healing rain that restores some of your health.
  9. Guiding Spirit: Your spirit companion glows at night, giving you visibility based on its element.

The Reef: Spirit Abilities and Spirits

The Reef leans into burst damage and survival tricks built for harsher zones. Several of these pair well with offensive Embrace skills.

  1. Reform: When you take fatal damage, you're encased in stone that slowly heals you. When you break out, your defense spikes for a short window.
  2. Fireblast: A blazing fireball that explodes on contact or at the end of its arc, scorching and igniting enemies in the blast radius.
  3. Spirit's Breath: Creates an air pocket so you and nearby allies can breathe underwater briefly.
  4. Tailwind: A gust that boosts your boat's speed and raises the movement speed of nearby players.
  5. Flame Stance: Attacks have a chance to deal bonus fire damage.
  6. Mark of the Deep: Your damage scales up as your corruption rises.
  7. Wind's Favor: Faster sprint speed and lower stamina cost while sprinting.
  8. Stone Stance: If you haven't dodged recently, you gain bonus defense until your next dodge. A reward for standing your ground.

The Greatwood: Spirit Abilities and Spirits

The Greatwood focuses on mobility, sustained healing, and resource control. If you spend a lot of time gathering, several of these become essentially mandatory.

  1. Windswell: Generates a temporary updraft at your feet so you can launch into the air with your glider.
  2. Nera's Bounty: Gathers every nearby large resource node automatically. Equipping stronger spirit foci expands the range of node types it can collect.
  3. Rejuvenate: Heals all nearby allies with a lasting regen effect.
  4. Earthshatter: Shatters the ground around you, dealing damage and stunning anything caught in the area.
  5. Nature's Guard: Blocking restores a small percentage of your max health. Parries double the effect.
  6. Afterburn: Critical hit chance goes up briefly after every dodge.
  7. Stonebearer: You draw strength from the earth itself, raising the weight you can carry.
  8. Quick Shot: Bow attacks charge faster and arrows travel faster.

Building a Loadout

With only two Major and two Minor slots available, picking the right four abilities matters more than collecting every Guide Spirit. Survival-focused builds usually pair Reform or Rain Stance with a defensive Minor. Combat builds tend toward Fireblast, Lightning Shot, or Earthshatter alongside scaling passives like Mark of the Deep or Afterburn. Try a few combinations and reset at the Spirit Anchor when something isn't clicking.
