Voyagers of Nera Boat Guide: Cargo Skiff Recipe, Materials and Repairs

Other Games·September 23, 2025·7 min read

Voyagers of Nera gives you a massive ocean to explore, which is great until you realize swimming between islands takes a small eternity. A proper boat unlocks early in the progression, so the swimming phase ends quickly once you know what to aim for.

Unlocking the Cargo Skiff Recipe

The first checkpoint is knowledge level 4. Every action that matters in the early game pushes you toward it: gathering wood, hunting hostile mobs, and crafting at your workbench. Play normally for an hour or two and you will hit the threshold without grinding.

Once knowledge level 4 unlocks, open your knowledge tree and spend a point on the Cargo Skiff recipe. The same tier also exposes the repair tool you will need shortly after, so plan your knowledge point spending around that pair.

Where to Place the Blueprint

The Cargo Skiff does not come out of a workbench. You drop its blueprint through the standard build menu, and the blueprint only snaps onto water. Translation: your base should sit next to a shoreline, otherwise you will be running materials across the map every time you launch a new hull.

Plant the blueprint right at the surf line and you are ready to craft.

Materials Required

The Cargo Skiff calls for:

  • 30x Wood
  • 10x Resin
  • 10x Twine

Wood and Resin both come from chopping trees, so a single logging run covers two ingredients at once. Twine is a workbench craft: 4x Plant Fiber yields 1x Twine. Plant Fiber grows around any forested area, usually right next to the trees you are already cutting down.

Deposit everything into the blueprint and the Cargo Skiff finishes itself. It carries a central storage compartment, which is the real reason this boat matters. Long supply runs from distant islands suddenly look reasonable instead of impossible.

Repairing the Cargo Skiff

The Cargo Skiff is fast, useful, and embarrassingly fragile. Hit a rock, scrape a reef, or attract Deeplings (the green-eyed hostile fish that treat your hull like a buffet) and the damage piles up fast.

Basic Patch Kits also unlock at knowledge level 4 and are the standard fix. Each kit requires:

  • 6x Wood
  • 5x Bone Nails
  • 4x Resin
  • 2x Twine

Keep a couple in your inventory at all times. Equip a kit, apply it to the boat, and the hull resets to full integrity. Then a fresh Deepling pack rolls up and you start the routine over.

Treat the patch kit recipe the way you would treat healing items in any other survival game. Stockpile a handful before any long voyage and the Cargo Skiff will outlive plenty of close calls.
