Sunkenland V0.200 Test Branch: New Features and Full Patch Notes

Other Games·January 16, 2024·8 min read

The waters of Sunkenland just got a little more hostile. The V0.200 Public Test Branch piles new threats onto the map, including erupting underwater volcanoes, but it also hands survivors fresh tools to fight back. A reworked gun assembly system, new building pieces, and a long list of items round out the patch.

What V0.200 Adds to the Public Test Branch

Players who flip the switch on the Sunkenland Public Test Branch can now poke at a long list of additions. Loot pools include large scuba air tanks, portable repair tools, fishing nets, batteries, and a bird-catching net, among others. The building menu also fattens up with triangular walls, hall walls, diagonal walls, roofs, and a few extra layout-friendly pieces.

Build a Gun From Scraps

The headline feature is gun assembly. Instead of finding firearms whole, you now scavenge broken guns from the world and recycle them into parts. Barrels, magazines, and stocks become craftable inputs, and putting the right combination together gets you a working weapon. The developer flagged this system as experimental, which is a polite way of saying expect changes.

Volcanoes Replace the Comfort of Sharks

Until now, sharks and pirates handled most of the menacing in Sunkenland. V0.200 adds underwater volcanoes that can put a quick end to a careless dive. The trade-off is that those volcanic regions also drop materials like sulfur, so the risk pays out if you make it back to base in one piece.

Sunkenland V0.200 Full Patch Notes

The full patch notes cover the changes listed below. The developer also confirmed that dedicated servers are not part of this build. They are still untangling technical issues and aim to ship that feature in a later update.

  • Game balance pass: Progression has been smoothed out, and technology stages now show more clearly which materials unlock each step, preventing unexpected walls.
  • Gun assembly system: Recycle broken guns into barrels, magazines, and stocks, then build new firearms from those parts. Tagged as experimental and likely to change.
  • Reworked underwater biomes: Underwater regions now look more distinct from one another. The new volcanic biome is the first example and yields useful resources like sulfur, with more variety planned to support future lore and puzzles.
  • New items: Large scuba air tanks, fishing nets, batteries, gun display boards, portable repair tools, and a bird-catching net all join the loot tables.
  • New building pieces: Roofs, triangular walls, hall walls, diagonal walls, and additional structural variants.
  • More missions: Several new missions, most of them combat-focused, to keep the action moving.
  • Economy rebalance: Item prices and stack sizes have been reviewed across the board for a more consistent in-game economy.
  • Weapon and enemy tuning: Adjustments to weapon damage, enemy damage, and enemy health to make encounters feel fairer.

How to Join the Public Test Branch

Opting in takes about thirty seconds in Steam. Right-click Sunkenland in your Steam library, open Properties, and switch to the Betas tab. In the Beta Participation dropdown, pick publictest and let Steam pull the patch.

One important catch: saves from the live game are not compatible with the Public Test Branch, so you need to start a fresh game on the test build. To exit, return to the same dropdown and select None.
