Sunkenland v0.2.03: Less Grind, More Fixes

The early access journey of Sunkenland keeps rolling, and update v0.2.03 lands without flashy new systems but with a respectable cleanup pass. Expect rebalanced recipes, a redesigned Iron Skull Base, faster cooking, a low-level oxygen tank, and a long list of bug fixes that finally let your guns shoot straight.

What the Patch Actually Changes

To be clear up front: v0.2.03 adds no new mechanics or progression systems. The developers spent this cycle smoothing rough edges and making the early game less punishing.

Several crafting recipes shifted into Tier 1. Bows and inflation stations are the headliners. Inflation stations also cost fewer materials now, and the blueprint requirement for bows has been removed entirely. New players can pick up ranged combat much sooner instead of farming components for hours before their first arrow.

Cooking has been noticeably sped up on both regular and advanced grills. That changes the rhythm of base time. Fewer minutes staring at a grill, more minutes pulling resources from the seabed.

A few longstanding annoyances also got squashed. Welding works again. Firearms now fire where you aim instead of suggesting a vague direction. Bullet counts refresh properly when you reload, and the submachine gun magazine no longer renders as a missing texture (which, frankly, was a fun look but not what the artists intended).

Sunkenland v0.2.03 Full Patch Notes (February 20, 2024)

The official entry lives on the Steam announcement page. The rundown below covers everything in the build.

Balance and Quality of Life

  • DE pistol high-power magazine: more recoil, lower accuracy.
  • Crude grenades and Molotov cocktails stack up to 10. Military grenades stack up to 5, with a smaller damage radius.
  • Iron Skull Base combat area redesigned.
  • Territory flags can now be placed to block enemy respawns. Building inside flagged zones is locked until the dev team finishes the combat area redesigns for each region.
  • Quick access bar items are now selectable with the mouse wheel.
  • Sleep displays your wake-up time. Sleep cooldown changed to 20 hours.
  • Bow blueprint requirement removed. Bows are now Tier 1.
  • Inflation stations moved to Tier 1 and cost fewer materials.
  • New low-level oxygen tank, learnable from a blueprint hidden in the caves of Castaway Island.
  • Player death backpacks no longer have a deletion timer. Your loot waits for you.
  • Stove blueprint requirement removed. Stoves are now Tier 3.
  • Grill and advanced grill cooking times significantly reduced.

Bug Fixes

  • Welding once again works as intended.
  • Radiation meds no longer cap max health at the wrong value.
  • Item pickup sound is no longer a chaotic mess.
  • Firearms fire accurately.
  • Bullet counts refresh correctly after loading rounds.
  • The DE pistol fine iron receiver blueprint now actually unlocks the receiver.
  • Submachine gun magazine texture restored.

What This Means for Your Run

If you held off because the bow grind felt rough, this is a good reason to log back in. Combat feels more honest now that firearms behave, and the cooking changes shave real time off survival loops. The Iron Skull Base redesign is the most noticeable structural shift, and the new flag mechanic hints at more deliberate territory systems coming down the line.

No new biomes, weapons, or storylines this round. Just a tighter version of what was already there, which is exactly the kind of pass an early access game benefits from most.
