Halloween on Steam is one of the few holidays where your wishlist does most of the screaming. Valve has confirmed the dates for the 2023 edition, so it is a good time to plan which horror and survival picks are worth chasing.

Valve is calling this year's event Steam Scream: The Revenge. The sale runs from October 26 at 5 PM UTC to November 2 at 5 PM UTC. That gives you a full week to compare prices, build a backlog you will not finish, and pretend you needed another roguelike.
If you are in a different time zone, convert that 5 PM UTC ahead of time. Steam refreshes the storefront the moment the sale opens, and the first few hours tend to be when wishlists actually get cleared.
The lineup leans into horror, survival, and anything with a strong Halloween mood. Valve's official trailer puts the spotlight on these titles, and you can watch it on YouTube:
Featured games are not the only ones that drop in price. Based on previous Halloween sales, these titles often see meaningful cuts, and several of them carried over from last year's event:
Expansions and DLC packs frequently join the price cuts, so it is worth checking the store pages of games you already own.
The smartest move before any Steam sale is the same: build the wishlist now. Steam emails you the moment a wishlisted game enters a promotion, which saves you from refreshing the storefront every hour. If you are co-op focused, line up a few survival picks like Don't Starve Together, V Rising, or Project Zomboid with friends. Cheaper games are easier to convince a group to try together.
Mark October 26 on the calendar, top up your Steam wallet if that is your style, and let the sale do the rest.
