StarRupture Update 1: Release Date, Ziplines, New Zones, and Full Patch Notes

Other Games·April 8, 2026·8 min read

StarRupture's first big patch is almost here, bringing a wider map, faster ways to get around, and a few new neighbors to keep things interesting. Here's the full rundown on what Update 1 packs, when it lands, and how to try it before everyone else.

When Does StarRupture Update 1 Launch?

Mark your calendar. Creepy Jar has confirmed the official release date for Thursday, April 9th.

If you want a preview of what's coming, the developer dropped a trailer worth watching:

What's New in Update 1

The patch expands StarRupture in pretty much every direction. The map grows, fresh biomes unlock, and the game finally hands you something faster than your own two boots for traversal. Ziplines make their debut, ideal for skipping the long walk back to base after a resource run that drifted a bit too far.

There's also the Development Station, a new structure that upgrades existing functional buildings to push production lines past their current ceiling. Combined with the higher-tier additions, factory builders get a real progression curve to chase.

The full list of additions:

  • A larger world map with new unlockable zones and points of interest
  • 2 new resources
  • New traversal feature: the Zipline
  • New functional structure: the Development Station
  • 6 new higher-tier buildings
  • 9 brand-new buildings
  • Wildlife introduced as a gameplay system
  • Expanded Corporation levels with additional rewards
  • Over 40 new items and recipes spread across fresh production pipelines

The wildlife addition is worth flagging on its own. Until now the planet has been quiet enough to feel almost polite. That changes with Update 1.

How to Play Update 1 Early on the Public Test Branch

Update 1 is already playable as a pre-release build through StarRupture's Public Test Branch. It's an opt-in track aimed at early testing, so expect the occasional rough edge, crash, or feature that behaves in ways the developer did not exactly intend. The trade-off is that your feedback directly helps shape the final release.

To join the PTB:

  1. Sign in to Steam through the desktop app
  2. Open your Library and right-click StarRupture in the left sidebar
  3. Choose Properties, then switch to the Game Versions & Betas tab
  4. Select Public Test Branch from the dropdown
  5. Wait for Steam to finish downloading the build
  6. Hit Play and start exploring Update 1 ahead of the wider audience

If you run into bugs, report them through the official channels so they can be squashed before April 9th arrives.
