StarRupture rewards players who stockpile early. Calcium, Titanium, Wolfram, Sulphur, Goethite, and the rest are the lifeblood of every assembly line you'll bolt together. Helium-3 sits a little further up the tech tree, but it ends up wired into so many blueprints that you'll want a steady stream long before you think you do. Below is where it spawns, how to harvest it, and what it goes into.

Most of the early Helium-3 deposits sit close enough to your starting zone that you don't need a long expedition. Bring a weapon anyway. The local bug population is not friendly, and getting jumped while you're standing on a gas vent is a fast way to lose progress.
Look east and northeast of your spawn point. Two clusters dominate that direction. The closer one, due east, is the more reasonable target for a fresh save. The richer pocket sits a bit further north, with a higher gas concentration but a longer walk and tougher neighbors, so most players come back for it once their gear has caught up.
You'll know a Helium deposit when you see it: a wide, cracked purple plate of stone with violet wisps drifting out of the fractures. Hard to miss once you've spotted the first one.
If you're caught short on supply, meteorite hearts scattered around the map carry small purple chunks of Helium too. They will not sustain a factory, but they will get you through a bottleneck.
Spotting deposits does not mean you can pull from them yet. The Helium-3 Extractor is gated behind reputation: you need Slenian Corporation level 6 before the recipe unlocks. Once it does, the build cost is 250 Basic Building Materials per extractor.
Placement is straightforward. Walk to a Helium geyser, open your recipe list, select the extractor, and drop it on top of the vent. From there it pulls gas on its own, and you can start piping the output into whatever production chain needs it next.

In the first few hours, Helium-3 mostly sits in storage. By the mid-game it is in everything. Electronics, Batteries, Chemicals, Epoxy, and Glass all rely on it, and those are the cheap entries. The expensive stuff (reactors, generators, missile components, anything with "Antimatter" or "Neutrino" in the name) burns through Helium-3 by the thousand per craft.
Short version: if you want any of the more interesting gadgetry StarRupture has to offer, the extractors need to keep running.
