How to Farm Calcium Ore in StarRupture: Locations, Tools, and Why You Need It

Other Games·January 7, 2026·6 min read

After the tutorial sends you off mining Wolfram and Titanium, StarRupture quietly stops holding your hand. The next material on the shopping list is Calcium Ore, and the in-game corporations want it in absurd quantities. Here is how to track it down and set up steady farming.

Spotting Calcium Ore on the Map

Calcium Ore appears as small, pale rocks scattered across the surface. Once you start scanning the horizon, the bright nodes are hard to miss against the darker terrain.

Cracking a single node only yields one ore. With a bit of luck, your handheld harvester or Mining Laser pulls two or three from the same rock, but do not plan around that.

For real volume, look for cream or sandstone-colored ledges with shallow puddles pooled on top. Those flat surfaces are where you drop an Ore Excavator and let it grind for you.

Two Early Deposits, With a Catch

Two solid Calcium Ore deposits sit fairly close to the starting area. One is north of spawn, the other to the east. The catch: while the tutorial is still running, the game blocks the routes with an invisible wall. Finish the lecture first, then walk in.

Powering the Excavator

The Excavator needs juice. Place solar panels next to it for power, then run rails out to a storage area or your main base so the ore moves on its own.

Tip: if you have friends, jump into a multiplayer StarRupture server. Splitting setup work between two or three players turns a long farming session into a quick one.

What Calcium Ore Actually Unlocks

You cannot progress through StarRupture along the standard route without Calcium Ore. The Furnace blueprint from the Selenium Corporation is gated behind Calcium Powder, which itself requires raw Calcium Ore.

Upgrading the Recipe Station also asks for 50x Calcium Ore processed in the Smelter, which unlocks Calcium Blocks. Those blocks open new blueprints, which expand your base options, which let you push further into the tech tree. Skip Calcium and the wall comes up fast.
