Pelican Town's General Store sells more than seeds and sundries. The man behind the counter, Pierre, becomes a far more useful neighbor once you start raising his friendship level, and the perks include a quiet cash-back program that drops gold straight into your mailbox. This guide covers exactly which gifts work, which ones backfire, and what to expect from his Heart Events.

Pierre runs the only General Store in the valley. He is married to Caroline, father to Abigail, and the type of small-business owner who genuinely seems to enjoy what he does. Around Pelican Town, neighbors describe him as dependable and hard-working, which is high praise from a community that gossips about everyone.

Beneath the friendly counter chat there is a more anxious side. If you side with Joja Corporation and complete the Joja Warehouse path instead of restoring the Community Center, Pierre starts to worry openly about the competition. His concern is simple: the new megastore could push him out of business and leave his family without income. Worth keeping in mind before you sign that membership card.

Like any villager in Stardew Valley, Pierre accepts up to two gifts per week. His birthday falls on Spring 26, and any present handed over that day multiplies friendship gains (or losses) by eight, so save your best item for the occasion.
His reactions follow the standard five tiers, and you can tell where a gift lands by his response:
Two special items trigger custom dialogue. Hand him a Price Catalogue and he says, "Gripping! Fascinating! It's the perfect book for me!" Give him a Stardrop Tea and you get, "Wow, I can't believe you'd give this to me. It must've cost you a fortune! Thanks!"
Quick reminder: shopkeeper or not, do not hand Pierre a salmon. He has spent his life selling fishing rods to other people; he does not want the fish back.

As a non-marriage candidate, Pierre keeps things short with just two cutscenes. The rest of the relationship plays out through occasional letters that include 250 gold or more through his store's Cash-back Rewards Program.
No cutscene this time. Pierre simply mails you the recipe for the Blueberry Tart. Opening the letter is enough to complete the event.
Once you reach six hearts with Pierre, walk into the General Store during business hours and a cutscene plays. You catch him going through a hidden stash he would prefer to keep quiet. He asks you not to tell anyone, and the game offers two choices:
Pick the first option unless you really want to torch the relationship. Tanking 500 friendship points takes a long time to recover, and the General Store discounts are not worth the silent treatment. For more context on the social system itself, see the official notes on friendship levels.
Keep a few Fried Calamari on hand, remember his birthday, and Pierre will become one of the more rewarding friendships in Pelican Town.
