Stardew Valley: Unlocking Mr. Qi's Casino Through the Hidden Quest

Most farmers meet Mr. Qi after grinding 100 Golden Walnuts on Ginger Island, but the eccentric purple host has a side errand long before that point. Tucked away from the main storyline sits a chain of hidden tasks the community calls the Mr. Qi Quest. Finishing it unlocks the Casino at the back of the Oasis, plus a few hours of detective work along the way.

Two Ways to Trigger the Quest

There is no NPC waiting to hand you this one. The questline opens through one of two random discoveries:

• The lost book route. Visit the town library and inspect the shelves until you locate an untitled lost book. Gunther mentions noticing something odd inside the tunnel just outside Pelican Town.
• The Secret Note route. Stumble upon Secret Note #22, which references something hidden in a dark tunnel.

Either trigger points you to the same starting location, so whichever you find first is fine.

Step 1: The Lockbox in the Tunnel

Head to the tunnel north of the bus stop. Walk along the wall in the dim corner and interact with a small box that is easy to miss on a first pass. The game tells you the lockbox has no power and needs batteries.

Step 2: Sourcing a Battery Pack

If you do not already have a Battery Pack in storage, you have several options:

• The Traveling Cart occasionally sells one for 1,500 to 2,500g.
• Crates and barrels inside the Skull Cavern sometimes drop them.
• Killing Iridium Bats can yield one as a rare drop.
• Place a Lightning Rod outside before a thunderstorm. The next morning a Battery Pack will be sitting next to it.

If you have already finished the Children's Bundle on the Community Center's Bulletin Board, you should have a stash of three. Remixed bundles introduced in patch 1.5 can also reward one.

Drop the Battery Pack into the lockbox, and the next clue appears.

Step 3: Rainbow Shell at the Train Station

Next, head north to the train station and place a Rainbow Shell in the box waiting there. Rainbow Shells appear on the beach during summer and can also drop from Iridium Crabs in the mines.

Step 4: Feed the Sand Dragon

The next clue reads, give the sand dragon his final meal. The dragon in question is the bleached skeleton in The Desert. Slot a Solar Essence into its open mouth. The dragon has been waiting a while, so do not feel bad about the menu choice.

Step 5: Check the Lumber Pile

Return to your farm and inspect the lumber pile beside the farmhouse's exterior wall. Inside you will find the Club Card.

Accessing Mr. Qi's Casino

The entrance sits behind the Oasis in the desert. Walk through the back door with the Club Card in your inventory and the Bouncer will let you pass. Without it, expect a polite escort back outside. From there you can spend Qi Coins on furniture, statues, and a few items that are otherwise hard to obtain.
