Harvey Gift Guide for Stardew Valley: Loves, Likes, and Heart Events

Harvey sits a bit further down the timeline than most of the marriage candidates in Stardew Valley, and that extra mileage shows. He runs Pelican Town's clinic, carries himself with a quiet sort of weariness, and opens up slowly. Talk to him often enough and you start noticing the loneliness behind the friendly bedside manner. Raising his friendship is the only way to dig into that backstory, and the fastest way to raise it is to put the right items in his hands.

The Doctor of Pelican Town

Harvey owns and operates the local clinic, but his work doesn't stop there. He also makes private house calls, something you'll witness firsthand during one of his Heart Events. His personality leans toward earnest, careful, and a little anxious about everyone else's wellbeing.

That health-first mindset is the single most useful clue when picking a present for him. Anything that signals a clean, nourishing lifestyle tends to land well. Think along the lines of a Truffle Oil or a Super Meal rather than a stack of cookies.

Gifting Rules

Like every other villager, Harvey accepts a maximum of two gifts per week, plus a bonus gift on his birthday on Winter 14. Birthday presents count quadruple toward friendship if he loves the item, so save your strongest gift for that day.

Watch his reaction text closely. It is the cleanest way to confirm whether you nailed the gift or whiffed it.

Harvey's Heart Events

Like Alex, Leah, and the rest of the bachelors and bachelorettes, Harvey unlocks a new cutscene at every even friendship level. Since patch 1.4, there is also a 14-heart scene, but it only fires after you marry him.

Several of these events feature dialogue choices that swing your friendship up or down. Pick carefully.

Two-Heart Event

Visit George's house at 1 River Road while George is home. You'll catch Harvey wrapping up a private check-up. He will tell you that you shouldn't be there, but George stops you on the way out and asks you to weigh in.

• +40 friendship: "George should follow Dr. Harvey's advice."
• -40 friendship: "George knows what's best for his own body."

Four-Heart Event

Walk into the clinic during business hours. Harvey will mention that he was about to mail you about your annual check-up, then prompt you with a few responses.

• +20 friendship: "I'm a little nervous...." or "I'm out of breath from working on the farm."
• -50 friendship: "Are you really a doctor? My pulse is fine!"

Six-Heart Event

Head to the general store between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. A scene plays out showing Harvey participating in an aerobics session. Once it wraps, two options appear.

• +20 friendship: "I won't tell."
• -50 friendship: "I can't promise that."

Eight-Heart Event

Return to the clinic to trigger this one. You'll find Harvey hunched over a radio, trying to reach a passing pilot. Two dialogue options pop up, but neither one moves the friendship needle, so pick whichever fits your mood and let the scene finish.

Ten-Heart Event

Wait for a letter from Harvey inviting you to meet him at the railroad tracks. Show up between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to start the cutscene. From there, the two of you ride a hot air balloon. There are no choices to make. Just enjoy the view.
