The Witch's Swamp in Stardew Valley is usually a brief sightseeing trip: walk in, talk to the Witch, possibly turn a child into a pigeon, walk out. The Distant Lands mod takes that quiet little corner of the map and packs it with quests, recipes, fish, and a goblin who is very, very serious about mayonnaise.
This guide covers what the mod adds and how to get it running.

The mod is the work of creator Aimon111, who looked at the empty swamp area and decided it needed actual content. The result keeps the same Stardew art style while filling the zone with characters, mechanics, and goals worth visiting for.
If you want to expand things even further, the Alecto the Witch mod adds extra quest lines on top of Distant Lands and is built to work alongside it.
Finish the Wizard's Magic Ink quest, head back to the Witch's Swamp, and a new face shows up: Zic, a Goblin NPC. He uses the same friendship system as any other villager, with one twist. His favorite gift is Void Mayonnaise, followed closely by seafood. Treat him well and a real friendship unlocks alongside the rest of his content.
Distant Lands adds more than 20 quests and events. Most of them branch out of Zic's storyline, so befriending him is the natural starting point. Rewards include lore, dialogue, and a handful of new cooking recipes such as the Mushroom Kebab and Crayfish Soup.
The swamp has its own water, so it has its own fish.
The Giant Horseshoe Crab is the trophy of the set. If your fishing skill is still scraping the bottom of the barrel, level it up before staking your tackle box on this one.
Foraging gets a small bump as well. New plants appear inside the swamp, including the Void Mint, which feeds directly into one of the new dishes. The full recipe list adds:
Each one has its own unlock condition, usually tied to finishing a specific quest or event.

The setup is the same as every other content mod in Stardew Valley.
Once SMAPI loads the mod, head to the Witch's Swamp and start working through the new content. Bring some Void Mayonnaise.
