After months of speculation, ConcernedApe has finally confirmed who players will be able to romance in Stardew Valley's upcoming 1.7 patch. The reveal came tucked inside the studio's tenth anniversary livestream, alongside a fresh farm type and a few scrapped ideas from the game's history.

The two newcomers to Pelican Town's eligible roster are Clint, the long-suffering blacksmith, and Sandy, the cheerful Calico Desert shopkeeper who runs the Oasis. Clint becoming marriageable feels like a quiet redemption arc after years of fan jokes about his unrequited crush on Emily. Sandy's inclusion is a little more surprising given her isolation, but it gives players a real reason to visit the desert more often.
ConcernedApe did not share a release date for 1.7. The reveal video focused mostly on retrospective content, leaving exact patch timing unclear. Beyond the marriage news and the new farm type, most of what is known about 1.7 still comes from this December 2025 tweet, which hinted at expanded social features. So patience remains the order of the day.
While the heart event scripts for Clint and Sandy have not been published, both characters already have established favorite items in the base game. That means you can start stacking inventory now and walk into 1.7 with a friendship lead.
Clint leans heavily into minerals and bars, which makes sense for a blacksmith. If you have an active mine run going, every shiny rock should go straight into a chest with his name on it.
Sandy's list is shorter but flower-heavy, so the spring foragers among you have a clear head start. Mango Sticky Rice is the only cooked dish she truly loves, so it is worth queuing up the recipe once you reach the desert.
When 1.7 finally drops, the heart event grind should feel a lot less like a grind if you arrive with the right pockets.
