Stardew Valley launched back in February 2016, courtesy of Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone, and it has quietly become one of the most beloved cozy games ever made. Seven years and several major patches later, version 1.6 is on the horizon. Below is the current state of the rumors, leaks, and confirmed crumbs.

ConcernedApe has not committed to a release date. The earliest public mention of version 1.6 came during a Q&A he held on Twitter (now X). A fan asked about updates for the mobile build, then followed up wondering if mobile would land after 1.6. ConcernedApe replied that 1.5 for mobile is coming and will be out before 1.6.
That single line confirmed 1.6 is real and that mobile players are queueing up first.
With no official date, the only honest method is to look at history:
Up to 1.5, a major patch rolled out roughly every year. Then the silence stretched, partly because the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic wreaked havoc on plenty of release schedules. Three years later, fans are still tilling the same fields.
The good news is a cryptic tweet from ConcernedApe makes it clear the patch is in the oven. The realistic window points to late 2023 or early 2024.

On July 18, 2023, ConcernedApe shared a brief teaser about the contents of 1.6. The confirmed additions so far include:
That is a modest list on paper, but anyone who has played Stardew knows that "extra dialogue" and "new secrets" tend to translate into many additional hours of content. ConcernedApe also has a track record of shipping more than he promises, so expect a few surprises that he is keeping under his straw hat.
As additional details emerge, this article will be updated with everything worth knowing about Stardew Valley 1.6.
