Where you plant your first base in Soulmask has a real impact on how quickly your tribe gets off the ground. The right spot balances three things: ambient wildlife threat, resource access, and proximity to dungeons and other points of interest. Below are four locations worth scouting before driving in the first stake.

Each spot on this list ranks differently across three rough categories: danger level, resource variety, and proximity to nearby POIs. Some lean toward farming, others toward safety. Pick the one that matches the playstyle you actually want.

The drawback here is the local fauna. Panthers and other hostile animals patrol the area in steady numbers. Their levels stay low, but if your Awareness Strength sits below 5 you'll spend more time running than building.
For anyone past that threshold, the spot becomes a strong farming zone. Fresh Meat and Sharp Fang drop here at consistent rates thanks to the abundant animal population. Clay nodes are also scattered around, feeding into recipes for Sticky Traps, Bathtubs, Plasters, and other early-game crafts.
There's an Ancient Ruins Dungeon just across the river to the west. That's where you'll source Iron and Copper Ore once you're ready to push your tech up a tier.
Note: The devs recommend lowering the difficulty if panthers and alligators are wiping you during the opening hours.

If Location 1 sounded a bit too lively, this one trades some loot drops for breathing room. Wildlife here is far less aggressive, which makes it friendlier for newer players still figuring out combat.
Resource-wise, it's an excellent Clay farm with even more nodes than the first spot. Walk a bit north and you'll find Copper Ore. Swing southwest instead and Tin Ore sits there waiting. Two nearby dungeons round things out with a steady supply of Green Crystals.
The trade-off: if your priority is animal-derived loot, Location 1 still beats this one.

Just started Soulmask and don't feel like arguing with a panther on day one? This is the spot. Most of the wildlife here is low level and docile, so you can drop walls and storage without constant interruptions.
The downside is that resources max out at the basics. Vines, rocks, and wood are everywhere, but anything beyond that is not. You won't unlock much progression by parking here long-term, though it works well as a backup outpost to return to between dungeon runs.

This site is the closest thing to a complete package on the list. The land is mostly empty of hostile wildlife, which gives you time to actually build instead of fighting. One catch: piranhas patrol the nearby river, so swimming over there ranks somewhere between optimistic and self-destructive.
What sells the location is density. Grass, bushes, trees, rocks, and Clay nodes are everywhere, and a small Barbarian Camp slightly northwest gives you extra items to scavenge. The downside mirrors Location 3 though. The resource pool tops out at standard early-game materials, so plan on relocating once you outgrow it.
Once you've picked your spot, the next step is making sure the rest of your tribe can join in. Spin up a dedicated server today and start building your base.
