Holy Team

Soulmask drops you onto a map so big that walking from one end to the other can eat an entire play session, even with a full squad on a dedicated server. The fix is simple: get an Alpaca, slap a saddle on it, and ride. This guide covers exactly where to grab one, how to raise it at camp, and what you need to craft the saddle.

Alpacas are not rare, so you do not need to comb the entire continent looking for one. Both early spawns sit just northwest of the starting spawn point, inside hostile tribal territory.
Neither tribe is friendly, so plan for a fight before walking in. If you want a refresher on combat against hostile NPCs first, the tribal warfare basics are worth a read.
Once the resistance is cleared, head straight for the animal pens. You will usually find a baby Alpaca locked inside one of the cages. Break the gate, pick up the baby, and head back to your camp with the new arrival in tow.

Back at base, place the baby Alpaca near a water source and drop food next to it. Corn is its preferred meal and easy to come by, so stock a few cobs in the pen. From there, your only job is patience: the Alpaca needs to grow into an adult before it can be properly tamed and ridden.
To finish the tame, you need a saddle. Open the Knowledge and Technology Tree and head into the Leather Gear branch, where the Alpaca Saddle is listed.
Crafting cost:
With the saddle finished, interact with the adult Alpaca to equip it. From that point on, the map shrinks considerably, and your feet will thank you.
