Where to Find Flint in Smalland and What to Build With It

Wandering around your spawn zone in Smalland teaches a quick lesson: half the resource nodes laugh at your starter tools. Most of those nodes need flint gear, and flint itself is not exactly waiting at your doorstep. Below is the short version of where to grab it and what to do with the pile once you have it.

The Pickaxe You Need Before Touching Flint

Flint nodes ignore bare hands and twig swings. You will need a Mandibular Pickaxe at minimum, which is a tier up from anything you start with.

The recipe is short on items but rough on patience:

• 1x Bull Ant Mandible (drops from a Bull Ant)
• 5x Fiber from sprouts on the ground
• 5x Resin found along giant tree trunks and branches
• 5x Wood from scattered twigs

The Bull Ant Mandible is the headache here. Bull Ants hit hard, and if you are still in the beginner armor, plan the fight carefully or bring a friend. Combine all four materials at a Workbench and the pickaxe is yours.

Smalland Flint Location

Head south to the beach area. Flint deposits sit in clusters along the shoreline, easily enough to fill a few inventory slots in one trip. Build a spare Workbench near the gathering spot so you can repair the pickaxe between swings instead of running back to base.

The catch: bees patrol the beach. If you hear buzzing closing in, stop swinging and look up. For players who would rather not deal with the local wildlife, exit to the menu and toggle Peaceful Mode before returning. Flint farming then becomes a relaxed errand instead of a survival drill.

Flint Crafting Recipes

Once you stockpile flint, a real upgrade path opens for your Vanguard. Everything in this tier is crafted at a Stonecutter, not a Workbench, so build one before you sit down with your materials.

The Stonecutter itself needs:

• 10x Stone
• 10x Wood
• 1x Bottlecap
• 1x Screw

Then the flint gear becomes available:

• Flint Arrows: 2x Wood, 2x Flint, 2x Insect Fur
• Flint Hatchet: 10x Resin, 6x Flint, 5x Refined Wood
• Flint Pickaxe: 5x Fiber, 5x Resin, 10x Flint, 5x Refined Wood
• Flint Shears: 5x Fiber, 5x Resin, 8x Flint, 5x Refined Wood
• Flint Spear: 5x Fiber, 4x Resin, 8x Flint, 4x Refined Wood
• Flint Sword: 8x Resin, 10x Flint, 4x Refined Wood

The Flint Pickaxe is the priority craft, since it unlocks the next tier of resource nodes. After that, the weapons and shears scale with whatever role you play in your group. Now go ruin the day of every Bull Ant that ever wronged you.
