Hard Leather in Runescape: Dragonwilds: How to Craft It and Every Recipe That Uses It

Ashenfall does not hand out free survival. Between Goblins, Putrid Rats and the rest of the local welcoming committee, decent gear is the difference between progress and another respawn. Hard Leather is one of those crafting materials that quietly unlocks half your equipment list, so it pays to set up production early. Here is how to make it, and what you can build once it starts piling up.

Crafting Hard Leather

Before you can press out a single sheet, the Tannery needs an upgrade into the Tanner's Kit. Assuming the base Tannery is already standing, the upgrade asks for:

• 6x Bronze Bar
• 8x Coarse Thread
• 6x Adhesive
• 18x Ash Plank

Place the finished Tanner's Kit directly next to your existing Tannery. They work as a pair, and the Kit refuses to function on its own.

With the station ready, each piece of Hard Leather costs 2x Leather and 1x Adhesive:

• Leather comes from running Animal Hide or Animal Hide Scraps through the Tannery.
• Adhesive is crafted at the Kiln using Swamp Tar, mostly harvested in the Whispering Swamp biome.

Stockpile Swamp Tar whenever you stop by the swamp. You will need adhesive for almost everything further down the tech tree, and the trip back is not exactly a stroll.

What Hard Leather Is Used For

At the time of the Early Access launch, Hard Leather feeds into 36 recipes spread across two stations. The full list is below, grouped by the crafting bench you need.

If you plan to chase a full set like Dragonkin Mage, Paladin or Wild Archer, expect to run the leather pipeline for a while. Lining up Animal Hide hunts with Swamp Tar runs keeps the production queue feeding itself instead of starving every other crafting project on your bench.
