Ashenfall does not hand out tools for free. RuneScape: Dragonwilds keeps you busy chopping wood, hauling stone, and prying ore out of the ground, and Copper Ore sits near the top of the early progression list. It unlocks the Furnace path, leads straight to Bronze, and pushes you past the bone-and-stick phase of crafting. Below is where the deposits actually spawn, what you need to dig them up, and every recipe Copper plugs into.

The Fractured Plains is the region to remember. Copper deposits scatter across the entire biome in RuneScape: Dragonwilds, but the western stretches of the plains tend to pack the highest density. The biome itself does you a favor here: the ground is washed in pinkish vegetation, so the warm orange tint on Copper veins is hard to miss once you tune your eyes to it.
Spotting the ore is the easy part. Mining it requires a Bone Pickaxe, which you put together at any Crafting Table:
Once the pickaxe is in your hands, swing until your inventory complains, then haul everything back to base.
Two skill unlocks make later runs much faster. At Mining level 11, the Rocksplosion spell breaks ore deposits with a single blast, saving real swings and stamina. At Mining level 24, Detect Ore + Clay fires a tall beam of light over nearby deposits, color-matched to the ore type, which turns scouting trips into a glance at the horizon. Both are worth grinding toward if you plan to do anything serious with metalworking.

The main reason to stockpile Copper is Bronze Bars. Copper on its own does not smelt into anything combat-ready, so you also need Tin Ore. Drop both into a Furnace and you get the alloy that unlocks the next tier of weapons, armor, tools, and structural parts. The recipe is simple:
Bronze Bars feed into a long list of crafts that carry you well past the survival phase, which is why most players treat Copper farming as a recurring chore rather than a one-time task.
If you have ore to spare, Copper also goes into pure decor. None of these items help you fight a dragon, but they do make a base feel less like a panic shelter:
That Small Copper Bin is the only recipe with a real material sting attached, so save it for the day your stockpile feels embarrassing.
Lock in a steady Copper route early and the rest of the tech tree opens up without much friction.
