Unlocking Chef in Risk of Rain 2: The Seekers of the Storm Walkthrough

Chef makes a comeback as a playable survivor in the Seekers of the Storm expansion for Risk of Rain 2. Once a familiar face from the original Risk of Rain, this cleaver-wielding cook is back to chop, slice, and dice monsters with the kind of flair you would expect from a kitchen veteran turned planetary mercenary. Here is how to recruit him.

Prerequisites

Before anything else, make sure the Seekers of the Storm DLC is installed. Without it, Chef simply does not exist in your roster.

You will also need to collect three items during your run:

• Bison Steak
• Cautious Slug
• Infusion

The Bison Steak and Cautious Slug show up regularly during the first and second stages, so they are not hard to come across. Infusion is the picky one. It only drops when you destroy specific objects in specific locations.

Where to Find Infusion

Keep an eye out for these breakables across the campaign:

• Explosive pots in the Abandoned Aqueduct
• Fusion Cells in the Rallypoint Delta
• Alloy Vulture Nests in the Siren's Call
• Flying Rocks in the Sky Meadow
• Birds in the Distant Roost

The Halcyon Shrine

With all three items in your inventory, finish the first stage as usual, but resist the urge to step through the portal at the end. Instead, look around for the new Halcyon Shrine nearby.

Praying at the shrine costs roughly $200 and summons a golden mini-boss. Defeat it, and a green portal will open up.

The Reformed Altar and Chef's Cave

The green portal sends you to the Reformed Altar. From the central structure, head slightly to the left to find Chef's Cave. Inside, you will see three recesses waiting for your offerings. Place the Bison Steak, Cautious Slug, and Infusion in their respective slots.

Once everything is in position, Chef will appear in the survivor selection menu the next time you start a run.
