Running an ARK: Survival Evolved server is usually straightforward until the save decides to misbehave. World corruption, griefing, accidental admin actions, or an exploit can leave players unable to continue from the current state. When that happens, the practical fix is to restore an earlier copy of the server save.
There are two common ways to roll back an ARK server with HolyHosting: manually replacing the active world file with an older ARK save, or restoring a full server backup from the panel. The manual route gives more control, while the backup restore is simpler when you want the whole server returned to a previous snapshot.

The manual method uses the older save files generated by ARK. It is the better option when you only need to roll the world back, but it does require careful file naming. Keep an eye on the world name and timestamps. One wrong filename can make the server ignore the save, which is not exactly the dramatic comeback anyone wanted.
Before changing anything, consider downloading the current save files to your computer. That gives you a fallback copy if you need to undo the rollback attempt.
Start by identifying the map or world name your server uses. In most cases, this matches the selected server map. You will also need file access through the server panel, since the ARK saves are stored inside the server files.

`/Saved/SavedArks`

The active world save is the file named `[worldname].ark`. Older saves include a timestamp in the filename. To roll back, you will move the current active file out of the way, then rename the older timestamped file so ARK loads it instead.

If you already downloaded a known good `[worldname].ark` file, you can use that instead. Delete the current active save from the server, upload your saved copy into the SavedArks directory, and restart the server. The uploaded file must use the same active save name, otherwise ARK will not load it correctly.
The automatic option restores a previous backup saved by the panel. This is useful when you want a broader rollback, since it can restore more than just the ARK world file. Backups are often tied to scheduled tasks, so availability depends on what has already been created for the server.

`Backup restore complete.`

Once that message appears, the backup restore has finished. Start or restart the server if needed, then join and confirm the world loaded from the expected point.
If no older world saves appear in the SavedArks folder, the server may not have created a usable ARK save before the issue happened. In that case, check the panel backups next, since those may include a full previous copy of the server files.
If neither manual saves nor panel backups are available, contact support for help checking whether any recoverable data exists. Also verify that you are using the correct server profile, because separate profiles store files in separate directories.
If the rollback works but the world is still too recent, choose an older timestamped save or an earlier backup. Timestamps matter here. For example, restoring from last week means ignoring files created after the problem started. If every available save is corrupted, there may not be a clean restore point to use.
